If your Pivot Table freezes for a few seconds every time you drag a field, use this fix.
There's a checkbox at the bottom of the PivotTable Fields pane called Defer Layout Update.
Tick it, and Excel stops recalculating after every change. Make all changes, then apply in one go.
One Excel shortcut worth remembering: Alt+=
Select the cell below a column of numbers, press Alt+=, and Excel inserts a SUM formula for the range above.
It works at the end of a row too.
Too many columns in Power Query? Don't scroll through the preview looking for the one you need.
Press Ctrl+G, type the column name, then double-click it to jump straight there.
Small trick, but it saves me time every day.
Excel's =COPILOT() function didn't fly for long.
Microsoft is removing it on September 14. Copilot in Excel is staying. Only the in-cell function is going away.
Microsoft said not to use it for calculations. Quite a warning for an Excel function.

Need a quick total in Excel? Skip the formula.
Select the numbers and look at the status bar. You'll see the Average, Count, and Sum.
Right-click the bar to add Minimum and Maximum. You can also click any value to copy it, although Excel copies the rounded value shown there.
5. Ctrl+`
This switches the worksheet between formula results and the formulas themselves.
Very handy when you're trying to work out what someone else's file is doing.

Here's a small Excel trick you might not know.
Hover over an active filter icon and Excel will show you the criteria applied to that column.
Handy when you inherit a filtered workbook and have no idea what's been selected.
A few days ago, I was so happy with Claude Opus 4.8. I was getting some amazing work done with it.
Then Fable 5.0 showed up for a few hours.
Now I'm back on Opus 4.8, and I can't stand it. It feels slow and dull.
Wonderful how our brains work.
