Good morning to Tom McKinney and @BBCRadio3 Breakfasters on a calm autumnal morning. Wishing everyone a good weekend. My husbandโ€™s cold is going, and mine was in full flow yesterday but may be improving, so not much planned here.

Lovely tribute to Esther Rantzen on @BBCRadio3 #InTune this evening, ending with the very appropriate Schindlerโ€™s List theme, one of her #DesertIslandDiscs choices. Thanks, @PetrocTrelawny.

Just wondering if anyoneโ€™s suggested Solomon as a name for Baby (even though not born on Monday). #The Archers

BBC Radio 3's Choral Evensong programme will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a special broadcast live from the Abbey on Wednesday 7 October. The service will be sung by @WAbbeyChoir, conducted by Organist & Master of the Choristers Andrew Nethsingha. It will include music by Howells and Parry, whose repertoire has featured prominently over the last 100 years, together with the world premier of an introit composed especially for the occasion by Kerensa Briggs. Apart from a short break in 1970, Choral Evensong has been broadcast every week since its very first transmission. That service was live on the National Programme from Westminster Abbey on Thursday 7 October 1926. Even during the war years Choral Evensong maintained its position in the schedules - although for two years from 1940 to 1942 the venues were not revealed by Radio Times and the programme was listed simply as coming from 'a Public School Chapel' or 'a Western or Northern Cathedral'. Over 80 different cathedrals, churches and chapels have since been visited. Listeners in the UK can hear Wednesday's service live on Radio 3 or on demand for 30 days on BBC Sounds. It will also be repeated on Radio 3 at 6pm (BST) on Sunday 11 October. Find out more: bbc.co.uk/programmes/m003215โ€ฆ

Lovely tribute from Tom McKinney to Esther Rantzen on @BBCRadio3 Breakfast, and good to hear one of her favourite pieces of music, the Brahms Double Concerto. It brings to mind her positivity and determination.

September has flown by and it's the final day to get your walking boots on and take part in the #MilesForTheMorrab community walking challenge. No time for a walk today (or is the weather deterring you)? You can still donate to our #Crowdfunder campaign: shorturl.at/Di5Fc

Good morning to Tom McKinney and @BBCRadio3 Breakfasters. Not much sign of dawn here yet but itโ€™s very mild again. Enjoying Swedish composer Dag Wirenโ€™s Romantic Suite and thinking his music deserves to be heard more often.

Tears at the sheer beauty and awe at the power of Brahmsโ€™ German Requiem on @BBCRadio3 this evening, and good memories of singing in it. Thanks to @ForrestMark for his presentation.

Today we managed some tidying up in the garden. Very grateful to our neighbour who lopped some low-hanging branches from our shared apple tree, which were missed when it was pruned last year.
