Then the whole scheme was cancelled in July. Two months later the same government is rolling out digital proof-of-age in pubs, tightening certified digital checks for work and rent, expanding One Login and the Wallet, and treating private digital verification as the new normal. The headline project is dead. The infrastructure is not. Unrest does not need to be “created from nothing.” It only needs to be allowed to escalate, filmed, condemned, and used. Every weekend of disorder produces the same two sentences: “We must restore order” and “We need better systems to know who is here legally.” Those systems are digital.
