He was lying flat on his back in the road with both hands in the air, shouting that he was a therapist and the man beside him was autistic and holding a toy truck. A policeman shot Charles Kinsey anyway. Kinsey asked him why. The officer said: "I don't know." North Miami, Florida, 18 July 2016. Kinsey, 47, was a behavioural therapist. One of his patients, Arnaldo Rios Soto, a 26-year-old autistic man, had wandered out of a group home and was sitting in the middle of the road playing with a silver toy truck. Someone called 911 and reported a man with a gun threatening to kill himself. Kinsey did everything. He lay down in the road on his back. He put both hands straight up in the air where they could be seen. He shouted his identification, his job, his patient's condition, and that the object was a toy. It is on video. A SWAT officer fired three rounds. One hit Kinsey in the leg. Then he was rolled over and handcuffed, bleeding in the road, and left there for a reported twenty minutes before an ambulance got to him. He asked the officer why he had shot him. He has testified that the answer was: *I don't know.* The officer, Jonathan Aledda, said he had been trying to protect Kinsey and believed Rios Soto was armed and a threat. He was charged — which is itself unusual — and tried twice. The first trial produced a conviction on one count of culpable negligence. A judge threw it out. A second jury acquitted him in 2019. Nobody has been held responsible. Kinsey survived and gave interviews, and the sentence he keeps returning to is the one everybody should take from this. He was unarmed, flat on his back, hands up, announcing himself, in daylight, on camera. He did everything right, and it did not matter. Every Black parent in America who has ever recited the rules to a teenager — hands visible, say sir, do not move, announce what you are doing — has had to reckon with Charles Kinsey, because he followed all of them, perfectly, out loud, and was shot anyway.

Terry Robiskie says as an NFL head coach he once received a message from his team's owner telling him not to let a player on his team earn his $300,000 contract bonus for total receptions, and says instead of listening to the owner he deliberately called plays to help that player reach the incentive “Larry Centers was our fullback, and your daddy would always feature him. Your daddy made sure Larry Centers caught six, seven balls a game. He was the best at getting balls in the right hands of the right people.” “I'll never forget it. We were playing Arizona, which was Larry's old team. Larry came to my office, sat down at my desk, and said, ‘Coach, you know, I didn't make that much money this year on my salary. But I need six catches in this game.’” “And Norv would always get him seven, nine catches. He said, ‘I need six catches in this game. If I get those six catches, man, I got a $300,000 bonus.’ And I turned and looked at him. I said, ‘Three hundred? Are you crazy? I don't make but $140,000. I'm the head coach!’” “He said, ‘Coach, man, I gotta get these six catches for this $300,000, man. I'll give you a thousand.’ I said, ‘Okay, good. Give me a thousand!’ But right then, that guy wanted to know, ‘Coach, do you really care about me?’ You know what I mean? And I know that I got a little note from the owner of that team saying, ‘Don't let that guy get them six catches.’” “I threw him seven balls in the first quarter. I made sure he got them. I never got my thousand dollars from him. I gotta get my thousand! But I made sure he had his incentive. And I told the owner, ‘If you don't want him to make that incentive, don't put it in his contract, because I'm the wrong guy.’ I'm the wrong guy.”

Of all the Belichick disciples, he’s actually the brightest mind of all of them but they will never let him be a head coach bc he told the truth about the owners
Reasons why Flores scheme will continue to keep working. 1. It’s unpredictable. You don’t know how Flores is going to line up his fronts and what the DB’s are going to do 2. He makes a gameplan for each QB he goes up against. He doesn’t keep it the same as always. Kinda goes back to number one in a way. 3. He knows exactly when to blitz and has been doing that relentlessly this year. 4. The QB’s he has faced veterans or young QB’s who haven’t been around long get physically and psychologically worn out with the pressures and hits they take. Flores employs former NFL quarterback Charlie Frye on his defensive staff specifically to build game plans that target how individual quarterbacks read the field. Frye scripts plays from the opposing quarterback's perspective, teaching Flores’s defense the exact footwork, eye discipline, and hot-route timing of that week's opponent. Against Young QBs (like Caleb Williams): Flores will flood the line of scrimmage with "all-up" Cover 0 alignments, showing blitz with 7 or 8 players pre-snap. This forces young quarterbacks into a grueling "mental war" trying to identify the free rusher in under two seconds. Against Elite Processors (like Jared Goff or Jayden Daniels): Instead of standard blitzes, Flores relies heavily on simulated pressures and "made-up zones". He will walk 6 or 7 guys up to the line, but at the snap, drop defenders into "voided coverages" that take away the quarterback's primary hot-read, forcing them to hold onto the ball and sort through secondary progressions while a four-man rush gets home. 5. He knows how to stop the run with the right personel up front. Offenses: He frequently shifts to a heavy 6-1 front to choke out the zone-run game and neutralize play-action fakes. Against Spread/Shotgun Offenses: He will utilize Double-Mug alignments (stacking linebackers over the A-gaps) on nearly every single down, completely derailing the offensive line’s slide protection rules and making it impossible for the quarterback to predict the pass rush. #SKOL

Seven years ago today, Atatiana Jefferson was killed by a Fort Worth police officer inside her own home. She was just 28 years old and spending the evening with her nephew, playing video games. Former officer Aaron Dean was convicted of manslaughter in 2022 and sentenced to 11 years, 10 months and 12 days in prison. In 2023, Fort Worth approved a separate $3.5 million settlement for her nephew, Zion Carr, who witnessed the shooting. This August 2026, the city approved an $11.25 million settlement with Atatiana’s estate, one of the largest settlements in Fort Worth’s history. Although a conviction and financial settlements cannot bring Atatiana back or undo the trauma her family has endured, accountability matters, and justice is a necessity, not an option. Today, we honor her life and stand with her family. Rest in power, Atatiana Jefferson.
