He admitted he "got 2016 wrong" because he trusted the exit polls.
Luntz asserted he is "skeptical" the current polling is accurate.
Moreover, he cast doubt on whether pollsters are using the right measurements and asking the proper questions to determine turnout.
Luntz has been a renowned pollster for decades, so this is meaningful coming from him.
He knows firsthand how polling can miss Trump voters.
Since there are many close races, underestimating Republican turnout by a small margin could make all the difference.
It sounds like there’s a real chance of that happening.

Sen. Elissa Slotkin said she wants “signature cases” against the people who enabled Trump so young graduates will decide working in the administration might buy them a ton of problems and just stay away. She’s calling it a deterrence message. She’s not talking about anyone accused of a crime. There's nothing quite as satisfying as watching a leftist hack like Jake Tapper get schooled by someone with some common sense.
"I understand if you become Governor of Florida," Tapper asked Republican candidate Rep Byron Donalds, "That you plan to make it illegal for people to display a different gender in public. Why are you so willing to stomp on people's personal rights?"
"Personal rights include the right to bear arms. The right to free speech and religion," Donalds replied, "It doesn't mean the right to deceive your fellow citizens so you can live out your fantasies in another gender's bathroom."
Tapper didn't have a comeback other than to ask how often Donalds thinks that really happens.
