Perspective on Chandler Simpson’s season: he finished top 2 in the AL in batting average and stolen bases. Only 5 dudes in the Divisional Era (since ‘69) have done that: Carew. Rickey. Ichiro. Trout. Altuve. Pretty damn good list to join. @RaysBaseball

IF (big if) #Rays believe Ketel Marte would do well in their environment, a trade of something like Seymour & a prospect or two (not in top 5 for sure, maybe not top 10) would be intriguing. (Well aware of risk as well as Rays rotational needs next year)

Unless Houston or Texas (both of whom lost last night and are both 78-80) finish on a 4-game winning streak, the AL West Champion is going to finish 81-81 or worse, which will be an all-time worst-ever division champion record. #MLB

Drew Rasmussen has made 12 starts since the All-Star break. The Rays have won all 12. No pitcher in American League history has made at least a dozen regular-season starts after the break in a season and had his team win every one.

The Rays are having one of the biggest positive disparities between wOBA and xwOBA ever. How are they doing it? There are three batted ball/spray direction combinations where wOBA majorly differs from xwOBA. xwOBA misses low on pulled FBs and oppo GBs, and high on center FBs.

Lots of Yankees fans whining about #Rays luck & being one of MLB's luckiest teams. Luck had nothing to do with losing 2 of 3 vs Diamondbacks & instead of giving your fans a showdown with division on the line, you choked. Good teams make their own luck. Bad teams make excuses.

Sox lose on a catwalk pop up, a re do that gets a single, a passed ball and a limp-dick flair to right. That Tampa ballpark was an abomination 20 years ago and now it’s… still an abomination!

Caminero is within 3 RBI, Alvarez is a better contact hitter...but Alvarez is DH & Caminero plays a premium defensive position. IF Alvarez gets triple crown, sure. But if doesn't, Caminero should be considered (I rarely see anyone having him in top 5 consideration is my point).

Within the span of five days, Junior Caminero has hit two walk-off homers, including one to clinch a playoff berth. He leads the AL with 41 homers and has done his best to mount a late run at stealing the AL MVP award away from the favored Yordan Alvarez.

#Rays free agency plan is simple: re-sign Peralta and sign Luis Arraez (length of contract dependent). One year, 20M for Peralta, and 2/30M for Arraez. Let Simpson, Deluca, Melton and Mesa Jr cook until Gillen arrives. If Peralta gets 5yr deal, stay away. But 1-3? ✅👍
