In May 1939, the Irish national football team travelled to Bremen for a match against the German national team.
In order to “honour the hosts,” the Irish players stood before kick-off and gave the Nazi salute as the German anthem “Deutschland über alles,” was played.
During World War II, the Irish conscience disappeared, and Ireland chose to maintain “neutrality” between good and evil.
In 1945, when the world already knew full well what had happened, Irish Prime Minister Éamon de Valera saw fit to visit the German representative in Ireland to offer his condolences on Hitler’s death.
And today — another football match. This time against the Israeli national team. Once again, the famous Irish conscience makes an appearance and takes to the pitch.
Almost 90 years have passed. Ireland’s unique talent for finding itself on the wrong side of history remains intact.

The Irish team hasn’t shown any solidarity with Ukraine after the summer of 2022.
The Aughinish Alumina refinery in Limerick has continued to export massive amounts of alumina to Russia throughout the war.
The aluminium is used by Russia to produce missiles that the then fire at Ukraine. The Irish players could have easily decided to protest against that, but they don’t care.

Vecāka meita studēja Medical Glasgow University . Vienlaikus tur mācījās arī Pīkiem meita . Politzinības. Jau studiju laikā skaitījās , ka vienlaikus strādā arī Briselē . Saņemot jau izkārtotu atalgojumu turienes, savējo struktūrās . Uz manu jautājumu , ar ko atšķiras medicīnas studijas no politikas zinātnības studijām ?
Meitas atbilde bija - kā diena pret nakti , vai begemots pret blakti- tās te var studēt jebkurš un salīdzinot ar medicīnas studiju programmas prasībām un noslogojumu - politzinātnes ir vienkārši komiskas . Tālāk Pīku atvases karjera pēc Glasgowas papīra iegūšanas, lidoja uz priekšu, nevis pa gadiem , bet pa mēnešiem puaro.lv/politika/levits-sev… un tā tālāk - raiti un bez aizķeršanās , tagad jau Šveicē .
Tas arī viss , kas jāzina par šiem brīnumbērniem , Levita meitu Indru ieskaitot. Tas nav par spējām , tas ir par pavisam ko citu.
Un nav svarīgi - par Pildegoviču mažoru , vai par Bražes meitu - kad paaugsies ....vai par kādu citu no šīs jocīgās eļitkas ģeniālajām atvasēm.
Tāpēc arī ārlietās esam tur, kur esam - patiesībā starp Bosniju Hercogovinu un Albāniju. Un šo tirliņu skaļā dižošanās par savām varenajām ietekmēm- kas adresēta Latvijas iedzīvotajiem neskaitās. Vēl jo vairāk , ka tas neatbilst patiesībai.
Mūsējā atgriezās mājās uz mirkli . Saprata , kas te notiek ar jaunajiem ārstiem , attieksmi pret viņiem un devās atpakaļ. Tur uzņēma ar atplestām rokām.
Rezidentūru jau Edinburgā . Tā arī palika tur . Nu jau vada insulta divizionu lielā klīnikā. Apmierināta ar visu . Citustarp, māja tur nopirkta un jau izmaksāta.
Mums priecīgi un skumji vienlaikus ... ka ne šeit !
Labi, ka ir vēl divi . Tie vismaz pagaidām ir te . Bet arī viņi visu te redz un saprot. Un vidējam piedāvājumi no ārzemēm arī jau ir.
Jaunākais gan saka , ka turēsies te līdz pēdējam. Laikam tāpēc arī izvēlējās savu dzīvi saistīt ar NBS.
Bet kad skatos uz šiem sprūdiem , gāterēm un kārtējiem rikveiļiem....

Что-то они как-то очень удачно падают, вам не кажется? Сначала в Эстонии дрон попал в электростанцию в Аувере. Одну из трех в стране. Сегодня ночью несколько беспилотников со стороны России вошли в воздушное пространство Латвии, и один из них попал в нефтяной резервуар в городе Резекне.
Вот, не куда-нибудь, а в нефтяной резервуар. Слава богу, он не рабочий, пустой. Как и Ауверская станция, которая тоже половину времени простаивает. Но прям вот какое-то очень удачное совпадение.
Был бы я конспирологом, я бы сказал, что русские берут локационно потерянные украинские дроны, перенастраивают их, и под шумок начинают тестировать на пока еще неработающих объектах стран Балтии...
Так, чисто потренироваться.

My scary classroom social experiment demonstrating how tyrannies arise from democracies:
I gave a bunch of extra credit tickets to the first few students to arrive in class, then everyone else received 1-2 tickets.
The kids that came into class last were outraged by the “injustice” of those that came first getting a greater reward.
There were no rules or directions for this day in class. I just told them I’d act as an enforcer of whatever they decided to do in the 47 minutes.
The girl circled in red- Emily- was a genius.
She used her charisma and charm to court the majority of her peers that had less coupons, and played off their resentment of the minority that had earned more tickets for arriving to class early.
In the allotted time she convinced her peers that if they voted to give her absolute power, she would confiscate the 40+ coupons held by the minority and distribute them equally.
The minority of students were frustrated, but powerless against the majority vote.
Emily was elected to a “supreme ruler” position, and as promised she confiscated all of the tickets from the minority of students that arrived to class first.
That’s when things got interesting.
She kept the vast majority of tickets for herself, and distributed a few to some of her friends.
It was a microcosm of what has happened historically time and time again, and the danger our republic faces.
I asked the students to write a reflection on how they now viewed unrestrained majority-rules democracy, and their opinions has definitely changed from the day prior.
