🤝 $NVDA #AI

Laser bottleneck is starting to push all the way upstream to InP substrates. $AAOI, $SIVE, $LITE, $COHR — these four are basically sitting on the full laser bottleneck. If you’re just starting to look at this space, these are the ones worth watching. $LITE signed a long-term InP wafer supply deal with $AXTI that runs through 2031. Two agreements totaling $87M. Some products next year are expected to leave about 70% of demand unmet. That was higher than I expected. On $AAOI, I think the market sometimes underestimates the fact that they make their own lasers. Data center revenue in 1H26 was already up 146% year-over-year. Company says 800G and 1.6T demand is expected to keep outpacing capacity into mid-2027. They’re also continuing to expand laser diode capacity in the US and Taiwan.

Learning about a company today: $SIVE. One of the optical names I’ve spent more time on. Servers move electrical signals. Fiber runs light. Optical modules do the conversion in between. Sivers sits further upstream — they make the InP lasers that actually generate the light. As AI clusters move from 800G to 1.6T and 3.2T, bandwidth keeps going up, and the requirements on laser power, efficiency, and stability go up with it. Sivers is already working on 70mW, 100mW, 200mW DFB lasers and laser arrays. That puts them in a position to supply pluggable, NPO, and CPO. That’s the part I find interesting about their setup. You don’t have to bet which optical architecture wins. As long as AI networking keeps scaling, the light source layer has to improve. On execution, the key project right now is with Jabil. They’re developing a 1.6T LRO module using Sivers DFB lasers. If that line gets traction, the business model changes. A big chunk of revenue used to come from NRE — customers paying them to do development work. They’re now trying to shift more toward product revenue. You can see it in the numbers if you look at the reports. Q2 revenue was only SEK 53.8M, so the top line still looks weak. But product revenue grew 18% year-over-year at constant currency. Opportunity pipeline is now at $1.2B, up 268%. They’ve also announced $30M to expand the Glasgow InP fab, aiming for over 100 million CW DFB lasers per year by Q4 2027. For a company this size, scaling capacity that aggressively suggests management is preparing for real AI optical volume. The risk is obvious — if orders don’t show up, that capacity turns into cost. Debt is also worth watching, especially with the cloud spending questions floating around. They did finish a financing round this year: the $12M convertible converted, and the remaining $5M term loan has been paid off. Near-term, the main question has shifted from survival to actually selling product. Market cap is around SEK 7.8B right now. TTM revenue is about SEK 278M, so roughly 28x sales. In the optical packaging space, worth putting this on the same watchlist as Marvell. Just my view.

From an industry positioning angle, $LITE and $COHR are already proven Tier-1 suppliers with large-scale production. Sivers looks more like a smaller player with strong InP technology that’s trying to clear the volume production hurdle. Jabil is developing a 1.6T LRO module using Sivers DFB lasers. Plan is Beta Build in Q4 2026, then customer qualification, with the company expecting production orders in H1 2027. GlobalFoundries has already put Sivers laser arrays into its Silicon Photonics reference design and SCALE platform. Ayar Labs has used Sivers multi-wavelength DFB arrays for its SuperNova optical source. The O-Net partnership is aimed at CPO external light sources. And they’re working with SemiNex on next-gen high-power, multi-wavelength InP sources. Put it together and $SIVE is touching pluggable, optical I/O, NPO, and CPO. That’s the interesting part. Whether NPO or CPO moves faster, they’re sitting further upstream on the laser source side. Q2 product revenue grew 18% year-over-year at constant currency. Opportunity pipeline is at $1.2B, up 268%. They’re also putting $30M into expanding the Glasgow InP capacity, targeting over 100 million CW DFB lasers per year by Q4 2027.

#endeks #borsa #hisse #halkaarz

Marvell’s Workplace Recognition Matters More Than It Looks $MRVL earned Great Place to Work certification in seven countries. In the U.S., 89% of employees called it a great place to work versus 57% at a typical company, and more than 90% gave strong marks to pride, fairness, teamwork and leadership trust. That does not guarantee better earnings. It does matter in custom silicon and optical networking, where large engineering teams can spend years on one customer program. Losing key people can delay validation and production. In this part of AI infrastructure, keeping talent is an operating advantage—not just an HR headline.

The CPU Shortage Is No Longer the Hidden Trade AI agents can increase CPU demand, but “CPUs will be tight” is no longer an information edge. The more interesting part of the stack may be ABF substrates, where large-package supply could stay constrained through 2028 and new capacity takes years to qualify. $INTC and $AMD are already crowded trades. I am watching three things instead: how incremental share splits between x86 and Arm, when Intel growth shifts from pricing to real unit volume, and when lead times begin to ease. Those signals will tell us whether this cycle still has room to run.

ABF Substrates Could Become a Bigger AI Bottleneck ABF substrate supply looks increasingly tight at the high end. Industry estimates put the gap near 10% in late 2026, around 21% in 2027 and above 40% in 2028. Demand is being multiplied by two forces: more server CPUs and larger package sizes. Some forecasts call for 2027 server CPU shipments from $INTC and $AMD to rise 36% and 62%, while new platforms use 56%-63% more substrate area. Supply cannot respond quickly. Ibiden has outlined a ¥500 billion expansion plan, but new capacity ramps gradually from fiscal 2027. Ajinomoto remains the dominant ABF film supplier, while low-CTE glass cloth is another constraint. The exact shortage will vary by product, but this is a supply chain worth watching.
