Last year, I took a research trip to Cookham Dean - the place that inspired The Wind in the Willows, visiting the original Wild Wood - Bisham Wood - & walking the banks of the Thames. @David_Oakes joined me for a charming podcast chat @TreesACrowdpod podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcas…

Great thread…
Fascinating trip to @KneppWilding today.
Including to the facilities they’ve developed to sell their meat - which looked amazing.
Taking a look back at Season 5:
Guests driven by Roadkill, Trees, Raptor Persecution, Lynx Reintroduction, Eggs and Nests, Vultures, Landscape Recovery and Peat Bogs, Endangered British Mammals, Butterflies and Climate, Badgers and Disease, and Beetles!
Any requests for S.6?!

It is such an exciting prospect for Cumbria and the UK. We obviously couldn’t cover it “on mic” at the time, but to get an inkling of what could happen on Skiddaw, listen to @RobStoneman here for some “ballpark landscape recovery banter”: treesacrowd.fm/rob-stoneman/

Today I sent off my edition of the correspondence between William Golding and Faber (primarily his friend and editor, Charles Monteith). What a writer Golding was! And has there ever been a talent-spotting editor as successful as Monteith? Publication will be November 2025.
