It amazes me that Lord Dannatt STILL gets to spout his 'spend more on war' tripe when he's on the payroll of a US arms firm and has been caught out abusing his position in the Lords to lobby for a company he was working with. ๐Ÿซฐ๐Ÿ’ฐโœˆ๏ธโšฐ๏ธ๐Ÿช–

100% this. A few days ago, I imagined this conversation: (A person): "What did disabled people do before PIP?" Me: "They did nothing. They starved, they suffered, they died and suicide was even more common than now."

What a lot of folk still donโ€™t seem to understand is why Governments created financial support for disabled people in the first place. Before financial support, there was the workhouse or being solely reliant on household or community goodwil Oops ? Pip is not a perk

No. The DWP and the government have not engaged in real co production. These workshops are a sham and the applicants cherry picked not to raise concerns. The DWP will still bring in cuts. Real co production is listening to concerns and designing something with disabled people.

"Don't leave us vulnerable just because your priorities are on.. welfare" Lord Dannatt, an ex British army general and former chief of the general staff (who happens to be an unelected parliamentarian for life) says that the govts increase in defence spending isn't enough.

Disabled people need PIP and UC.
๐Ÿšจ New research from @TrussellTrust reveals something alarming: 3 in 4 people referred to Trussell food banks are disabled. It's a tough statistic to comprehend. But it's the tougher reality facing many disabled people in poverty.

On average, a disabled household would need an extra ยฃ1,095 every month to have the same standard of living as a non-disabled household. That's the Disability Price Tag. It's not about poor budgeting. It's a cost-of-living crisis that is hitting disabled people hard.

While Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is not, and shouldn't be, linked to work, our research shows that it plays a vital role in keeping many Disabled people in their jobs. Read the report, available in summary, Easy Read and BSL: inclusionlondon.org.uk/campaโ€ฆ

With all the disability hate out there please think before opening your mouth and demonizing disabled people, many disabilities are invisible and nobody knows what other people are dealing with
