Plenty of Totara regeneration in this Eucalyptus stand at Pukaka, north of Blenheim. #forest #climateAction #biodiversity
A ground-based LiDAR scan of the base of a tree. We’re checking to see whether or not ground-based LiDAR adds anything to aerial drone-based LiDAR for predicting tree biomass. #climateAction #forest
My office today. 🙂 Doing biomass assays to measure carbon in trees. #climateAction #forest
So sorry to hear of her death. While Fleetwood Mac appeared to epitomise the notion that great art is built on suffering, she was the exception that broke that theory, providing a stable foundation that enabled the band the flourish. #FleetwoodMac theguardian.com/music/2022/d…
It’s like a war, punctuated by guile, play acting and unwarranted head-holding combined with false impressions if having been hit by a Mack truck. Pathetic really. Certainly not #football. #ARGMEX #FIFAWorldCup
The @NZNationalParty's boot camp policy signals a departure from their pledge to rely on evidence. Reports world wide show that it won't work. It's clearly populist garbage.

I’m alternating between stunning views of Jupiter in my C11 and fabulous views of the lunar #eclipse. #astronomy
And, to cap the evening off I pulled out the Astroscan. It still delivers a beautifully sharp, high contrast view, in some ways more satisfying than the 20x80s. #EclipseLunar #lunareclipse2022

Awesome semi-final win by the @BlackFerns tonight. They took charge in the 3rd quarter of the game when they ran an exceptionally strong French team into the ground with some great running and offloading. Congratulations to them! #NZLFRA

Disinformation seminar cancelled amid threats, harassment newsroom.co.nz/disinformatio… This sad and frightening. Why are there so many hateful people in NZ? And Luxon says there's no such thing as hate speech. He needs to talk to the disinformation people who live with this crap.

I heard Luxon was leaving National ... heard it lots of times so it must be true

Less than 20 years ago, the world was headed for a >4C warmer world by 2100. The amount of change that would occur under that much warming, that fast, was almost unimaginable and certainly unsurvivable for human civilization + a large percentage of the world's species. (thread)
