I stopped being a journalist, but I didn't stop seeing stories, so here's a running list of ideas. If you're a North Carolina reporter looking for a story, have a look --> docs.google.com/document/d/1…
The word we generally use for acting in direct contravention of legislation enacted by Congress is: crime
After a bipartisan meeting with President Zelenskyy, it is clear that the Trump Administration is acting in direct contravention of the legislation Congress enacted last month providing for sanctions against Russia.
As a result, we must pass bipartisan legislation that imposes sanctions on Russia with no waiver being allowed.

early voting advice for weekdays this week (lines will get longer week of Oct 26) - based on Wake and Durham hourly voter check-ins in images, shortest lines will be 4pm to 7:30 pm or at 8 am. Longest lines 10am-3pm (times when voter checked-in, not when they got in line) #ncpol

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) & Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) have alarming readout of their conversation with Vlodymyr Zelenskyy:
“Pres. Zelenskyy confirmed that critical Starlink services remain degraded, including on systems traveling at speeds above 100 miles per hour, impeding Ukraine’s ability to intercept Russian drones. He also reported disruptions to U.S. intelligence sharing concerning early warning of Russian ballistic missile launches. As a result of these disruptions, civilians – children – are dying"

Also is this a Geico or a Texas Chainsaw movies reference, I'm not sure which and am curious @ThomTillis “We have chosen the proverbial chainsaw shed time and time again, kowtowing to the White House’s every demand, even when we know the end result is going to be a bloodbath"

NEW: The order to limit a satellite system used by Ukraine for battlefield communications and drone operations came from inside the White House, according to two US officials and a Western official briefed on the matter.
“Asked whether he knew his property was being used for video gambling, he deferred to a lawyer.”
This is a candidate for the NC House and a sitting city council member
Update 2: Ethics Commission advised Taylor to amend his statement of economic interest, per email Taylor shared with the Rant NC blog. Taylor said he submitted revised SEI yday. Asked whether he knew his property was being used for video gambling, he deferred to a lawyer. #ncpol

Greg Murphy's district was one of two *in the entire state* that Mark Robinson won in 2024. If he's up on TV I don't know how Rouzer, Foxx, McDowell etc. aren't at least spooked
And here's GREG MURPHY on air in Greenville. Ds have him in an unusually close race in his Trump +14 district.

"I'm Greg Murphy. I drive to D.C. and across Eastern North Carolina all the time. Gas prices are too high. I get it. As a husband, I know groceries are very expensive. As a doctor and a patient, I know health care isn't affordable, so I'm working to bring down costs. To get oil flowing again, to fight greedy insurance companies, I aim to be a voice of reason in a sea of insanity."
