First of all, if a doctor told him that, I would get a new doctor. The Eagles have some explaining to do.

Today we kicked off the @HopkinsJSCOR MPH Mentoring program for the new academic year.
16 @JohnsHopkinsSPH students paired with some amazing @hopkinssurgery faculty mentors.
Thx, @CaitlinWHicks & @mslidell for helping me run the program again this year. – at Baltimore, MD
"There are a lot of reports of rising e-motor, e-bike and e-scooter accidents. And actually, some of the data that is coming out is showing that up to 50% of these injuries happened solely in kids. In our emergency department between 2024 and 2025 we actually saw a tripling of the number of injuries that we're seeing."
Hear from Dr. Magill, of Levine Children's Hospital, and Officer Helms, of our Central Division, about the dangers of e-bikes, e-motors and e-scooters and the reckless operation they're seeing, especially among children.
These vehicles are not toys. They're powerful vehicles that require responsible riding, proper training and protective gear. Young riders speeding through traffic, ignoring signals and riding in unsafe areas is leading to an increase in injuries, and worse, that could have been prevented with caution and supervision.
Let's work together to keep our kids and our roads safe.

🧵 on the upcoming disappearance of Chromic and Gut sutures (at least from Ethicon). We’re told these sutures may be gone forever by September.
Only a few surgeons use these fast-absorbing sutures, but for those who do, we’ll go over an alternative.

My most socialist position is that all NFL, NBA, and MLB playoff games should be on network TV - kids whose parents can’t afford or don’t have streaming services should still be able to watch

I should’ve negotiated a NIL deal with @EAST_TRAUMA. That’s definitely my image and likeness. 😉
But, seriously. Sign up for the amazing EAST #SurgMentoring program.
#CLT Please stay off the roads, @MecklenburgEMS and @AtriumHealth need to get our equipment and staff through!

Always great talking to the surgeons responsible for founding EAST 40 years ago.
I hope we have followed you ideas and embody the vision
“To be the premier organization for early and mid-career surgeons.”

Video review in the trauma bay show that we are very bad at enacting trauma informed care. We must do better.
Great talk at @EAST_TRAUMA #EAST2026

I would start first with the debate about whether we have the statistical power to meaningfully measure surgeon-specific outcomes—most often we do not.

Important topic at @hopkinssurgery Grand Rounds resident debate.
“Should Health Systems Be Required to Publicly Report Procedure-Specific Outcomes at the Individual Surgeon Level?”

Truly a collaborative effort from 40 centers across the country and many acute care surgeons who want to provide high-quality patient care. Looking forward to the discussion - ~70% of centers suggest the 'right patient' census was less than their current census

How many patients on the trauma service is too many?
How many patients can a single surgeon see?
What about when they have resident/APP support?
ICU patients?

In the 1500s a man could own this for zero money down and have huge tracts of land his children could play in, while still living a life of leisure and overseeing a small workforce in his spare time. RETVRN!
At what point should board certification supersede BLS/ACLS/PALS renewal cycle? The practice of medicine is devolving to a state of constant testing @SCCM @American_Heart @AmBdSurg #MedTwitter
