Experience isn't always the key to hiring, says this tech CEO
Hiring the most experience people isn't always the key to creating the best team, according to the CEO of tech company Transreport, Jay Shen. Here's what he says you should look for instead.

ALT An illustration with a straight line with numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 in pink circles. Point 1 reads in a white box ’you can communicate your assistance needs in advance through our Passenger Assistance app or website. This can be done at any time before your train departs.’ Next to this is two hands holding a smartphone with the Passenger Assistance logo on the screen. Point 2 reads ‘your assistance request will be immediately sent to the train companies.' Next to this is a female in train staff uniform holding a whistle. Point 3 reads ‘you will receive a notification in the app, as well as an email, once the request is processed by the train companies.' Next to this is a smartphone with an envelope and number one notification circle. Point 4 reads ‘for journeys where assistance is confirmed, it will be delivered by the train companies.' At the bottom there is a train heading towards a train station. On the left is two grassy hills with a tunnel which the track stretches along.

ALT An illustration. Heading 1 in turquoise reads We Do in a large white box, underneath with bold text emphasising the first sentence and key points in each bullet. Point 1 'provide technology called Passenger Assistance which is used by train companies to process all assistance requests, regardless of how and when they have been communicated (not to be mistaken with the Office of Rail and Road industry term ‘Passenger Assist’)’. Point 2 ‘offer an additional way to communicate your access needs. Our Passenger Assistance technology is also used by train companies to manage Turn Up and Go journeys'. There is a light grey background, with a teal banner at the bottom and on the left-hand side an illustrated image of hands with brown skin holding a smart phone with the turquoise Passenger Assistance ‘P’ logo on the screen and on the right-hand side the front of a white, yellow and green train on a track.

ALT An illustration, with a large white box and a heading at the top in pink reads We Do Not. A list underneath with bold text emphasising the first sentence and key points in each bullet. Point 1 ‘we do not provide assistance services directly and we do not confirm, amend or cancel requests.’ Point 2 ‘we do not view technology as a substitute for people. We prioritise close collaboration with key stakeholders including disabled people and train companies to gather feedback.' This white box is in front of a grey background. On the far right is an illustrated white female with light brown hair in train staff uniform, a navy-blue top with teal tabard, grey trousers and holding a pink whistle. The illustrated female does not have a face. Behind the illustrated female is a teal banner at the bottom with parts of a yellow, green and white illustrated train.

Tot the left of the photo we have Adam, Joseph and Sophie. In the middle of the photo is Emma, standing next to Luna, her assistance dog. To the right of the photo, we have Jacob and Claire.
