@Transdev and John Holland win contract for world’s largest tramway network in Melbourne, Australia!🚋 The Department of Transport and Planning of the State of Victoria has awarded to the joint venture between Transdev and John Holland the contract to operate and maintain Yarra Trams, Melbourne's tramway network, for an initial term of nine years. Yarra Trams is the largest light rail network in the world: ⏩24 lines over 250 km of double track and 1,600 stops, covering the capital of the State of Victoria, which has a population of 5.3 million. ⏩With more than 500 trams, it carries more than 147 million passengers per year. ⏩One hundred Next-Generation Trams, with a capacity of 150 passengers per vehicle, will be added to the existing fleet from 2025. Promoting #diversity within teams and a culture of #inclusion are at the heart of Transdev's and John Holland's commitments. We are working with Public Transport Authorities to accelerate #EnergyTransition by deploying efficient, responsible & sustainable fleets using alternative energies: electric, hybrid, bioethanol, biodiesel, biogas, hydrogen, solar, etc. 🎯Objective: to reduce the use of fossil fuels by deploying alternative energies, but also by experimenting with new energies 🔎 Example in Australia with this first full-size electric bus powered entirely by sustainable energy sources, now on the road in Queensland and the Redlands, east of Brisbane.
