ALT The Transgender Media Lab at Carleton University is ashamed that its home institution (@Carleton_U) has withdrawn from Capital Pride (@FierteCapPride) without so much as an explanation. We strongly support Capital Pride’s Statement in Solidarity with Palestine (https://capitalpride.ca/capital-pride-statement-in-solidarity-with-palestine/), including the following: “Part of the growing Islamophobic sentiment we are witnessing is fuelled by the pink-washing of the war in Gaza and racist notions that all Palestinians are homophobic and transphobic.

ALT y portraying itself as a protector of the rights of queer and trans people in the Middle East, Israel seeks to draw attention away from its abhorrent human rights abuses against Palestinians. We refuse to be complicit in this violence. Indeed, to withhold our solidarity from Palestinians in the name of upholding 2SLGBTQIA+ rights betrays the promise of liberation that guides our work.” Queer resistance movements have always been aligned with resisting oppression in all forms. Pinkwashing of Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza ignores the fact that queer Palestinians exist, and are more likely to be killed through Israel's actions than any homophobia or transphobia.

ALT A pink square text box is over a red background. In the text box, black text reads, “CUPE 4600 represents all Teaching Assistants, internally-funded Research Assistants, and Contract Instructors at Carleton University. It is the largest union on campus, with nearly 3000 members. They have been on strike since Monday, March 27 in their fight for: Fair pay Protecting their intellectual property when designing online courses Better health benefits plans, retirement savings, and emergency funds The Transgender Media Lab stands in solidarity with CUPE 4600. They do essential work at the university and their demands should be met immediately!”

ALT CUPE4600 graphic, the largest text in the middle of the page, “Let’s Talk Money,” is positioned over a graph labelled “2020-21 Semesterly Base Stipends for Contract/Sessional Instructors.” Text at the top left corner reads #CUPE4600FactsFriday In a light blue colour, Ontario university rates are positioned along the graph, with red points comparing Carleton at $7453 and University of Ottawa at $8585.
