In an article entitled, "Why Nutritionists Say You Should Eat More Tinned Fish," a publication known for celebrating wild animals encourages its readers to eat them. @NatGeo - Your lengthy story, which reads like an advertisement for fish companies, makes no mention of animal sentience or marine ecosystems. cc: @geoffgagnon @sadiequarrier

Please see important presentation by Amber, one of the authors of @PETA White Paper on the Failure of Cage-Free Housing Systems to Reduce Overall Hen Suffering. She makes an interesting comparison of foie gras humane washing to cage-free eggs humane washing. In the first case both animal welfare & rights groups came together. In the face of Peta's report & climate & health emergencies can everyone in animal welfare now pivot away from promoting cage-free to promoting plant-based food? youtube.com/watch?v=e9IvnQ0X…

Is climate change fuelling diseases like Ebola? The Climate Question pod... youtu.be/uWYj1Kqj70U?si=rD2o… Question for @BBC #ClimateQuestion: Why do most people find it weird to acknowledge that animal agriculture is the main driver of the breaching of most of the Earth's planetary boundaries? This is a huge problem because we then ignore a key action: Eating a whole food plant-based diet. #DietChange is win-win for the animals, climate, freshwater use, land use, biodiversity, water pollutions, individual longevity and public health, food security, worker rights and mental health, and more! Your taste buds change after 22 days.. I challenge you to be disciplined and try a plant-based milk for 3 weeks. You just may just lose your addiction. Meat tastes good because of spices... You can make delicious and healthy plant-based foods with vegetables, legumes, nuts and seeds. Everyone can play a part in making this urgent change to our food system.

Is bacon really worth their suffering? There is no humane or sustainable way for 8 billion people to eat animals at the rate we are eating them. It is impossible without torture and suffering. Please be vegan for them ❤️ #Vegan #Bacon #BearWitness 🎥 Instagram/cody_vegan

.@fao’s #Sofi state of food insecurity calls for more meat and dairy consumption in #Africa when grains and soy should be for human and not farmed animal feed in Western countries. The #FAO needs to pivot to plant based goods advocacy worldwide

.@Lewis_Bollard Do you suffer #climateanxiety? I do. I’m really scared. The 5 min you cite. Is it a gas guzzler or EV? What if u multiply 5 min by 100s of millions of dozens of eggs bought in UK / year & where does chicken feed come from? Deforested #Amazonia? Let’s please debate
This is where climate myopia leads: defending factory farming because it has slightly lower emissions. It's true that caged hens emit less — if you can't move, you don't eat as much grain. Caged humans would also emit less. But the effect is tiny. Even using this study's numbers, a dozen organic eggs has the climate impact of about five minutes of driving. The animal welfare impact is not tiny. A dozen caged eggs requires confining a hen for around 335 hours in a space smaller than a sheet of paper. That's not a climate solution. It's just cruelty with a green label.

This study shows sometimes 1 measure has inadvertent impacts on the other issue. Cage free had higher environmental & certain animal welfare costs (# of hens sent to slaughter & their mortality). We need to pivot to plant-based focus to mitigate animal and climate/eco-impacts
