Back in Toronto for a minute… and our hottest homie turned Thanksgiving dinner into soup. The holiday stretched into another bowl. A comforting home coming. Further evidence that we married well. 🦃

For us, ACR Hot Roti & Doubles in Scarborough has always been the gold standard for Trini snacks. The place we measure every other doubles against. Usually while wishing we’d ordered more 🇹🇹

Venice Beach, you beauty. Couldn’t leave without tacos. At Teddy’s Red, that meant Tijuana-style birria on absolutely everything. Mulitas, vampiros, quesatacos… all the fellas made an appearance. A strong finish to LA… and a bold start to six hours in a middle seat 🌮 🇲🇽 ✌️

Gjelina, Venice. Jonathan Gold knew. Heirloom cucumbers, mint, dill & a vinaigrette bordering on witchcraft. Fennel-salami pizza, Calabrian chillies, blistered crust. Wandered inland to Abbot Kinney at sundown. Found the life of the party. Wished my better half was there.

Another reason we love LA: mom-and-pop donut shops still win. Wendy’s deserves more love: Cambodian family, cheap dozen, generous glaze. Menotti’s: line out the door, great coffee, a weightless Homer Simpson 🍩 “So you like donuts, eh? Well, have all the donuts in the world!”

Jonathan Gold called The Win-Dow one of LA’s best burgers. That totally tracks… and eating it in the garden at American Beauty (one of our top five albums of all time) felt like the universe knew our order. 🍔 🇺🇸

Our hottest homie really stuck the landing this year… bird beautifully bronzed, husband hopelessly grateful. Mostly for her. 🇨🇦 🦃

Planes, trains, automobiles, home, Thanksgiving, dessert!

“Seafood restaurant gets outta hand.” The Clash probably weren’t talking about Great N.Y. Noodletown. But a soft-shell crab flexing, legs hanging over the plate, and shrimp that are anything but make a decent case. 🇨🇳

Coming to you live from the epicentre of NYC’s Ukrainian Village: Veselka… with borscht the colour of a fresh grievance and soft pierogi dragged through sweet onions and sour cream. We came for lunch and ordered enough to need a little walk 🇺🇦

Proclaiming any one place has the best bagel in New York is a bit of a suicide mission What we can say with certainty: the tomato bagel at Apollo is one of the most satisfying bites we’ve had in ‘26. Light & airy inside, toasted to a proper crunch outside, w/ salt, pepper & evoo

Road fuel for the trip back to the grind after another successful #weekendsinwinecountry. Goose-liver pâté on fresh sourdough from RPM Bakehouse. Snacking perfection. We come from a long lineage of pâté-sandwich enthusiasts. This one would make the ancestors proud 🇨🇦

Some restaurants want to be the centre of attention. Gharoaa is the centre of the neighbourhood. Kosha mangsho. Dimer dalna. Lal shaak. Aunties who make us feel at home in Dhaka. New month, new review: torontofoodblog.com/2026/10/…

Open Streets Hamilton was pretty lit this year. We walked the whole length and back, which gave us plenty of time to decide that the best thing we put in our mouths were the sweet rolls from Sharpe Cravings. Now that’s how you usher in pumpkin-spice season properly! #hamont

Farm wedding in Collingwood. Breakfast at MEK with my beautiful date. Hottest spot in town. Hotter company. #babecity

Mutton curry, potatoes, onions, curry leaves and chili… all rolled up and fried crispy. Annaluxmy Cafe’s Sri Lankan short-eats are the kind of snack you buy two of and immediately regret not grabbing a dozen! 🇱🇰 #wednesdaysinscarborough #lunchunder10bucks

Quick shoutout to our boy at Thin Billy Baked, doing the Lord’s work with butter, sugar and seasonal summer ice cream sandwiches. Forever and always our favourite cookie in town. Since day one! We sure do love seeing small business win. Keep up the good work!

Nice to be back home… where the heart is. And where the kiddos reassert their place atop the food chain.

St. Pete and Clearwater have no shortage of the sweet stuff. A cinnamon roll from Paradeco, an apple fritter the size of our face at Frida’s, and a dangerously oversized oatmeal cream pie from The Sourdough Co. We conducted the necessary research. 🍩

St. Pete is a great place to see a ballgame. Cool downtown strip. Even cooler ballpark, with the A/C absolutely dialled in. They inexplicably cranked “The Needle and the Spoon” during warm-up as we drank nitro cold brews. The Rays even walked it off oppo taco for the dub!
