Tomorrow evening at 9PM EST we will be holding the vx-underground talk show on Twitter.
Our guest speaker with be the CEO of @TorGuard. Tor(rent)Guard is a large VPN and VPS provider with infrastructure across the globe. They're competitors with organizations such as Mullvad, ProtonVPN, NordVPN, and HideMe.
During our talk we will discuss VPN technologies, how their large and multinational infrastructure works and is managed, common myths and misinformation on VPNs and VPSs, how ISPs work fundamentally and how they can monitor what you're doing and can inject into your traffic, and more. And, because it's us, malware techniques and technologies which can be used or abused by VPNs
As always, we will allow people to join the conversation, ask questions verbally and in-real-time, comment, make suggestions, or just say Hi.
We will also be doing a surprise giveaway. To celebrate our "first" attempt at this dumb talk show thing we're doing, TorGuard has agreed to hook up listeners, or talkers, during the segment with VPN accounts. He'll give 5 away for free because ???.
Anyway, see you tomorrow night.

Exciting news.
1. Thanks to @JaffaCakes118 and Neiki (we can't find their Twitter to tag them) we are now collecting roughly 20,000 unique malware samples a day. Some days we break 30,000 samples. Thanks to them, @petikvx, and @virussign we are now ingesting over 1,000,000 samples a month. Yay!
2. This is actually pretty expensive. Ingesting, compressing, archiving, and distributing this much malware, on top of the normal traffic vx-underground receives, brings our current monthly web traffic average to 270TB – or 3.24PB of web traffic a year. Thank you to our friends at @Cloudflare who have helped us so much with this traffic load.
3. Thank you to everyone who donates and sponsors us. This isn't an easy task while charging $0.00. Thank you to our largest financial contributor, @Malcoreio and our largest monthly donor, @TorGuard. A special thanks to our largest individual donor @HackingDave.

I recommend unlinking any desktop device from your signal account. A long-known problem (that I was unaware of until today) is that Signal stores your decryption key on desktop in a plain text file, NOT your keychain, making it accessible to any app.
TL;DR: Don't install @signalapp for macOS, it is not secure.
I carried out this small experiment:
- I wrote a simple Python script that copies the directory of Signal's local storage to another location (to mimic a malicious script or app)
- I ran the script in the Terminal and got a copy of my Signal data on my Mac
- I booted a fresh macOS installation in a virtual machine
- I transferred the copy of Signal's data to the VM and placed it where Signal expects it: ~/Library/Application\ Support/Signal
- I installed Signal and started it
- Signal started and restored my session with all the chat histories 😳
- I exchanged a couple messages with a contact from the VM and it worked 😳
- Then, I started Signal on the Mac
- I got three sessions running in unison: Mac, iPhone, and VM 😳
Messages were either delivered to the Mac or to the VM. The iPhone received all messages. All of the three sessions were live and valid. Signal didn't warn me of the existence of the third session [that I cloned]. Moreover, Signal on the iPhone still shows one linked device. This is particularly dangerous because any malicious script can do the same to seize a session.
Perhaps this flaw is what makes some users think that Signal has a "backdoor" as it is easy for sophisticated attackers to target a victim who's using the Mac app and see their chats. (The same may be also true for the Windows app)
