To the high schooler not playing much this summer. The reps you cannot get on the field you can still get in the weight room, in the cage, and in your grades. Coaches are not only watching the games. They are watching what you do in the months no one is keeping score.

The families who get this right are not chasing the next showcase. They are building a young man who happens to play baseball. That young man is still standing when the playing ends. Build him.

Parents will question 2 hours of strength training per week, focused on the health, well-being, & performance of their children.

HS athletes:
Summer workouts are less than 10% of your time. If you cannot carve out 4-7% of your week to train with your teammates & coaches then you are not a serious athlete. There is plenty of time left to work, swim, fish, sleep, etc. Get to workouts & get better!!

I understand why baseball families feel pressure.
Everyone seems to be attending something, posting something, committing somewhere, or chasing the next opportunity.
But comparison can quietly pull a family away from the path that actually fits their athlete.

Everyone says “team first.”
Until it costs them at-bats.
Or innings.
Or recognition.

The cage can lie.
Showcases can lie.
Social media can lie.
The game never does.
You either perform between the lines — or you don’t.
