The entire "this VTuber paid too much" / "this VTuber paid too little" discourse is exhausting and misses the point. Art is a luxury service with wildly variable pricing based on artist skill, demand, speed, detail, and the client's specific requests. A $27k model and an $800 rig are fundamentally different transactions, likely with different scopes, revisions, and artist reputations. The problem isn't the prices themselves. It's using price alone as a cudgel to shame *either* side. Shaming someone for paying "too much" to support an artist they believe in is bitter. Shaming someone for finding a deal that worked for them and their artist is elitist. Touch some grass. Damn. The rigger's tweet, while defensive of their client, swings that cudgel hard. "Severely underpaying" is a serious accusation that assumes bad faith without knowing contract details, scope, or the artist's own pricing. The OP was rude and it’s not okay. But saying this is underpaying and you’d be ashamed is not cool towards the other 2d artist. This isn't about fair pay. It's about tribalism disguised as ethics. We're not comparing specs; we're using price tags to assign moral value. I'm tilted because this drama *always* circles back to judging wallets instead of celebrating art.
