🚨Gary Neville on Yarmolyuk's red card against Jeremy Jacquet during Brentford vs Liverpool:
🗣️Reporter: “Gary, do you think Yarmolyuk deserved to be sent off for that incident?”
🎙️Gary Neville:
“Honestly, I watched that decision, and my first reaction was, how on earth is that a red card? I understand the referee has to protect players, and I'm not asking anyone to ignore dangerous challenges, but you've got to look at the situation properly.
From what I saw, it looked unintentional. There is a difference between deliberately trying to hurt someone and being involved in an awkward collision during a football match. You cannot just look at the contact and immediately reach for a red card without considering the circumstances.
And this is what frustrates me about Premier League refereeing. We keep having these conversations because the decisions are not consistent enough.”
“Football is a contact sport. Players challenge for the ball, they get physical, and sometimes they collide. That's part of the game. Of course, there are limits, but we cannot reach a point where every bit of contact is treated like a serious offence.
We're playing football, not tennis! If you remove the physical battles from this sport, you're taking away part of what makes it special.
The Premier League has some of the best players and managers in the world, yet we're still talking about decisions that leave everyone confused. The referees need to be more consistent, and VAR should help clarify these situations rather than make them even more controversial.”
🗣️Reporter: “So you believe the decision was too harsh?”
🎙️Gary Neville:
“From what I saw, yes. I think it was soft, and I'd like to understand exactly what the referee saw that made him believe a red card was necessary.
I'm not saying every decision will be perfect. Referees are human beings, and mistakes happen. But when a decision can change the entire game, we have every right to question it.
You cannot demand that players respect the officials while giving them decisions that are difficult to understand. There has to be accountability on both sides.”
“Protect the players, absolutely. Punish genuinely dangerous challenges, absolutely. But don't confuse every collision with an act of violence.
The Premier League doesn't need softer football. It needs better, more consistent refereeing. We're playing football, not tennis!”

Keith Andrews has NEVER lost to Liverpool as Brentford boss.
Meanwhile, Andoni Iraola has NEVER beaten Brentford.
Today they go head-to-head. 👀

👏🇮🇪 Keith Andrews went from being Brentford's set-piece coach to their manager!
✅ 12 goals scored
✅ Just 6 goals conceded
✅ Unbeaten in 8 games
Brilliant work. His Brentford side are currently sitting 4th in the Premier League! ✨

Impressive response to conceding by a Brentford side that has also gone ahead in every game so far this season. #BrentfordFC

Hiya @etihad I want to fly to Australia but I've only got £400. Can you see if the government can pay the rest?
