First campaign session since my operation! Forgot my ‘flat’ route had some steps but even those were perfectly manageable!
@TomPower_ and I have come to the Prickly Pear for a drink and a catch up now, loads of people here eating and the food smells amazing - feeling hungry but I’ve got chilli at home!

This morning @TomPower_ and I donned our coats for a site visit to @thenewtsomerset to see the planned area for a new visitor attraction, an indoor succulent garden.
It was a lovely, damp autumn morning and really interesting to hear about their plans. We have already been to the public consultation for the building design but it makes a real difference to see the site as well.
Obviously as Tom is on the planning committee and I am a sub we have to be impartial and base any decision on the officer’s report when it comes to the committee but when I was a committee member back in the day I always endeavoured to visit the site of an application rather than relying on the photographs alone to ensure my decision was made with all the knowledge I could collect.
This was a very enjoyable site visit however as we were able to get a coffee and stand by this fire on a rare damp day. An early start but a good leg stretch!
Great to speak to BBC Points West about the Conservative Party Conference, the future of the Conservative Party, and the crucial local elections next May in Somerset.
A really important time for our party and for Somerset, with plenty to do between now and May.#CPC26
I was proud to bring forward my dementia motion to Full Council on Wednesday, and I was delighted that councillors from across the chamber voted unanimously in favour of it.
This motion was particularly personal to me, having had two members of my own family affected by dementia. Sadly, I have seen first-hand the impact it can have not only on those living with the condition, but also on their families and loved ones.
I hope this motion will help raise awareness of dementia and, importantly, ensure that people living with dementia across Somerset — particularly those in our rural communities — can access the support they need.
Thank you to everyone who supported the motion and helped me bring it forward.

Another beautiful bunch of flowers, this time from my Conservative Councillor colleagues!
@TomPower_ and I went for our first catch up since I came out of hospital with a delicious lunch at @TheMontagueInn
It was so good to get out of the house, I’m climbing the walls. 3 weeks tomorrow until I can drive again.
It will be important because I currently say I’m doing brilliantly but that’s within the confines of my house. As soon as I go anywhere it’s like I climbed a mountain, driving will enable me to get out more frequently to potter about in different places and get some kind of activity going every day!

Labour politicians are working out how to tax you more. My team is working out how you can keep more of your own money.
@griffitha @ClaireCoutinho and Richard Fuller are my new Economic Unit. Their job is to find the responsible tax cuts and reforms that let businesses grow, and make sure you feel it in your wages, weekly shop, bills and the cost of your home.
We will abolish stamp duty on your home, we will end the Family Farm Tax and Family Business Tax. And we will go further, with responsible plans so that families can keep more of what they earn.

A brilliant evening in Bruton, welcoming 12 residents for a tower tour, a glass of Prosecco on the roof and a chance to watch the eclipse. 🌙🥂
The evening was raising money for a new rope for one of our six bells. 🔔
I had the honour of opening the Prosecco… and, in the interests of safety, the cork went flying off the roof! 😂
Don’t worry — I did pick it up afterwards! 😂
A great evening, a good cause, and thankfully no one was hit by flying corks!

Thank you for putting up with me, keeping me in line (most of the time!) have a brilliant day 🥂🎂
Brilliant evening!!
The landlord at @TheMontagueInn said in the spring ‘I like Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg, I’d love to meet him’
So I made it happen!
We had to close bookings in the end because there was so much interest in our joint association dinner and some people preferred to eat on the terrace as the room was so packed!
Great food, great company and a fantastic speech followed by a lot of questions and answers from @Jacob_Rees_Mogg
What a fantastic night!
(Ps - @TomPower_ and I had a photo with Sir Jacob and made sure you can see our leaflet on the pub’s pinboard behind us!)
