🚨 ¿Y si QGIS pudiera hacer mucho más que mapas?
📊 QGIS Dashboard lleva el concepto de Business Intelligence (BI) al mundo GIS.
Ahora puedes crear dashboards en QGIS, combinando:
🗺️ Mapas
📈 Gráficos
🔢 Indicadores
📋 Tablas
🎛️ Filtros

On 28 May 2025, the Birch Glacier collapsed, sending rock and ice into Blatten, Switzerland. Around 90% of the village was covered or destroyed.
The extraordinary part is that 300 people had been evacuated 9 days before the collapse. Scientists had recognised the danger. That warning gave residents time to leave, even though it could not save their village.

RustGIS is now on PyPI: pip install rustgis
RustGIS is a fast, free and open-source GIS in pure Rust for mapping, analyzing and sharing geospatial data. It runs natively on Windows, macOS and Linux, and in your web browser. Your data stays on your machine unless you send it to an AI model you choose, and every action is a command you can script.
The new rustgis Python package brings the RustGIS engine into Python and the full RustGIS app into your Jupyter notebook, with no server to run and nothing else to install.
What you can do
- The engine in-process: open the same data the app opens, run any of RustGIS's commands and geoprocessing tools, style layers and render maps, all from Python.
- GeoPandas in and out: turn any layer into a GeoDataFrame, or add a GeoDataFrame as a layer.
- The whole app in a notebook cell: rustgis.Map shows the ribbon, panes and map right below your code.
- Two-way sync: what Python adds or styles appears in the app, and what you pan, edit or add in the app comes back to Python.
- Projects that travel: save a .rgis project from Python and open it as it is in the desktop app or the web app.
- Runs where you work: JupyterLab, Jupyter Notebook, VS Code and Google Colab, with prebuilt wheels for Windows, macOS and Linux.
Get started in three lines:
import rustgis
m = rustgis.Map(sample=True)
m

The esquisse package in R is an excellent tool for data visualization and exploration. Designed to streamline data analysis, esquisse turns raw data into interactive visualizations, facilitating easier understanding and interpretation of your data sets.
Here are some key features of esquisse:
1️⃣ Drag-and-Drop Interface: Create dynamic plots effortlessly using a simple drag-and-drop interface. This feature helps in quickly identifying trends and patterns in your data.
2️⃣ User-Friendly: esquisse is accessible even to beginners in R, thanks to its intuitive interface. It integrates well with other R libraries, enhancing your overall data analysis experience.
3️⃣ Customizable Visualizations: esquisse offers numerous customization options, enabling you to tailor visualizations to your specific requirements. From color palettes to various plot types, you have full control over your data's presentation.
4️⃣ Time-Saving: esquisse saves time by making it easy to create visualizations through an interactive and exploratory approach. While it excels in simplifying the process of visualizing data, it is particularly useful for quick, on-the-fly analysis rather than automating the creation of visualizations for very large data sets.
5️⃣ ggplot2 Integration: esquisse works seamlessly with ggplot2, one of the most popular visualization packages in R. This integration allows you to build complex and aesthetically pleasing plots with ease, leveraging the full power of ggplot2's capabilities.
6️⃣ Community and Support: Take advantage of a supportive community of users and contributors who provide tips, tricks, and assistance. This makes it easier to resolve issues and stay current with the latest updates.
Here is the package documentation, where you can find the visualizations shown in this post and many other examples: dreamrs.github.io/esquisse/

Introducing RustGIS v0.1.0, the first release!
This first release brings a full desktop GIS with a familiar ribbon, over 1,000 geoprocessing tools, and an AI Assistant that works the map for you.
What it does
- Your data, any map: GeoJSON, CSV, Shapefile, GeoParquet, Flatgeobuf, PMTiles, GeoTIFF and COG, web tiles, vector tiles and MapLibre styles, on a 3D globe or in any projection.
- Cartography and layouts: thematic symbology, collision-free labels, page layouts, map series, PDF export, reports and presentations.
- Analysis: overlay and proximity tools, guided workflows, ModelBuilder, and 1,000+ GeoLibre and Whitebox tools for terrain, hydrology and LiDAR, even in the browser.
- Editing: snapping, templates, domains and attribute rules, with undo for every change.
- AI Assistant: ask questions or give instructions in plain language, using the model you choose (Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, Ollama and more).
- Scriptable and extensible: run any command from the command line, and add tools with sandboxed WebAssembly plugins.
- Ready to install: Windows installers, a signed macOS app, Linux .deb, .rpm and AppImage, and 15 interface languages.
