UK driving test prices haven't changed in 16 years, over which time inflation was 57%. Now there's a ~6 month wait-time for a driving test and 100s of private companies selling "fast track tests" - basically ticket touts. Who could have predicted it?

Had a great chat with @Tom_c_watson this morning. Somehow a discussion on data definitions has managed to brighten up an extremely grim and grey day. I'll be writing something on it soon, but definitely worth checking out: dataforaction.notion.site/Bu…

I reckon with GPT-3, combined with the data we've helped charities collect on @getTimetoSpare, we can have a play with auto-writing grant applications. Not sure what happens in a world when charities can bulk-write grant applications, but could be fun.

After a bit of a dive into the prompt engineering rabbit hole, I'm definitely making some good progress... Now I'm going to have to work out how to generate the stats from the Time to Spare data that match the question. Or maybe we get users to select which stats are relevant...

It seems like I can also use GPT-3 to let us know what table in the database we should run an aggregation against, and which filters to apply for a question. Might need to find a few more examples of grant application forms to work out whether this actually useful.

Lots of people talking about how Local Authorities can work better with community organisations. It can be difficult and complicated, but let's start with the data. #SolaceSummit22 timetospare.com/your-area

Napkin maths: UK charities employ ~1 million people (~25 million total employed in services). Total service sector energy bills are expected to go up by ~£70bn/year. Multiplying them together, that could be a £2.8bn increase for charities. When needs are increasing. Insane.

I got a bit carried away writing this. But we've been building a platform to help charities operate and collaborate more effectively, and this sums up what we've learnt and why we're excited.
We’ve done some thinking about charity systems. Why is it so awkward to set them up to encourage collaboration? What would a truly collaborative platform actually look like? Here’s our thoughts…

Facebook launches… Facebook
Mark Zuckerberg just announced a Feeds tab on @facebook, where you can see a chronological feed of posts from those you follow. And when you open Facebook, you’ll still see a Home tab where we’ll recommend personalized content from creators and friends. facebook.com/zuck/posts/pfbi…

Frustratingly, it took a whole 8 working days to reach April's total.
4 working days into June, and we've had as many charities use @getTimetoSpare as all of December last year 🚀📈
