A French tourist in Japan allegedly punched a Japanese woman in the face over a dropped lunch box and was arrested. Being a tourist is a privilege, not a right. When you visit another country, you are a guest. You respect the people, you respect the laws, you respect the culture. 🇯🇵 A lunch box falls. You apologize, you clean it up, you move on. How does that turn into violence against a local woman? It's shameful. Violence is never the answer, especially when you are the visitor who should be on your best behavior. 100% yes, tourists who assault locals should face stricter consequences. If you can't control yourself abroad, you shouldn't be allowed to travel. Japan is known for being one of the most respectful, safe countries in the world, and this kind of behavior ruins it for everyone. No excuses.

滝行 (takigyō) is a traditional Japanese ascetic practice in which a person stands under a waterfall, allowing the cold, forceful water to strike their body. It is a form of misogi (purification) rooted in Shinto, Buddhism, and especially Shugendō (the mountain ascetic tradition associated with yamabushi).
