“If anyone tells you that opera is outdated and irrelevant to today’s audiences, just send them along to Opera Holland Park. There is a current double bill playing that had audiences laughing out loud”

Brilliant reinvention & razor sharp take-down: Scottish Opera's double-bill pairs Gilbert & Sullivan's Trial by Jury with Toby Hession & Emma Jenkins' brand new comedy A Matter of Misconduct! at Opera Holland Park. My review:

"This is operetta, not only for the nostalgic, but for the now." Scottish Opera impresses with a double-bill of cultural-political satire, one classic, one new.

I am genuinely lost for words about today’s political events. Genuinely. I can’t think of a word that accurately conveys the flood of callousness and stupidity that this budget has unleashed. Can you?

Well Liz Truss's reading is a welcome respite from all the emotion, drama and beauty

If you think you’re having a tough day spare a thought for the Queen. She’s got to have a meeting with Boris Johnson and, when that’s done, she’s got to have a meeting with Liz Truss too.

It would be hard to be “ashamed of our history” at the same time as saying “the best days are behind us” - who’s writing this stuff?!
Paid for “ @RoyalMail Tracked48” on an order (at an extortionate cost). Dispatched Wednesday, should have arrived today. Royal Mail say that with “Tracked 48” they “aim to deliver within 2-3 days”.
Why not call it ”Royal Mail 72-ish, and only if you’re lucky”…
@RoyalMail just to let you know it still hasn’t arrived. It’s been a week. Pull your finger out…?

Resigning… but not yet … and now appointing new ministers. He’s not given up has he? This resignation stuff is just a ruse to give him a bit more time to find a way of clinging on…. Or have I turned into a conspiracy loon?
