What’s the point of living in the richest municipality of Bharat, of being the highest tax contributors to the country, if our children have to wade through sewage water! Also why the apathy to suburbs in comparison to South Mumbai where the chief decision makers reside!
Dear @mybmcSWM @mybmcWardS, a broken sewerage drain is located just outside S.M. Shetty School Gate Number 3. Despite residents raising complaints on Marg and X, no one has cared to fix the sewerage line. It's a hygiene issue. @AshwiniBhide @mybmc

Vithya makes India so proud! Her gold is a reminder to all those who are breaking barriers everyday, who are pushing harder everyday and who are running that extra mile to make a big dream come true! #india #goldmedal
From a truck driver’s daughter in Coimbatore to Asian Games history.
Vithya Ramraj grew up in Meenakshipuram with her identical twin Nithya. Their father Ramraj drove extra shifts. Their mother Meena enrolled them in the Erode sports hostel from Class 7 after a PE teacher spotted them — the family could not afford training otherwise. Hockey first. Athletics next. Years of struggle, a sports-quota BBA, and a twin who later paid for her training when money ran out.
At Asian Games 2026 she delivered: 🥇 Women’s 4x400m relay (anchor) 🥈 Mixed 4x400m relay (anchor) 🥉 Women’s 400m hurdles — 54.75s, National Record
She finally broke PT Usha’s 42-year-old mark and became the first Indian woman under 55 seconds. Three events. Three medals. Anchor legs that counted.
What a campaign. What a journey. 🫡

A 2024 email sent by IIT Bombay professor Suryanarayana Doolla, who was then the institute’s Dean of Student Affairs, has resurfaced amid allegations of caste discrimination made by the family of student Sahil Wakode, who died by suicide last week.
In the email, prof Doolla cautioned students against asking fellow students about their admission categories, JEE (Advanced) ranks or GATE scores, saying such questions could reveal their caste or whether they belonged to a reserved category.

IIT Bombay Student Representatives issue an official statement following the tragic death of second-year BTech student Sahil Wakode.
The statement states: "We do not stand for or condone cheating or any form of academic misconduct. At the same time, the loss of our fellow student, Sahil, is a deeply tragic event that has compelled us to reflect on the systems and processes within our Institute. The protest initiated by students was not intended to justify academic misconduct. It was a collective effort to raise concerns about systemic issues that have existed for some time and to seek meaningful and strong institutional reforms so that no student has to face circumstances of this nature again..."
"...We are also happy to note that an open house with the Director and other members of the Institute administration was held, providing students with an opportunity to directly raise their concerns and questions... With respect to Professor Suryanarayana Doolla, we would like to clarify that our position has never been one of presuming guilt or prejudging the ongoing investigation. We stand with Professor Doolla as a member of our faculty community and believe that the investigation must be allowed to proceed fairly and impartially. Our demand was that he be relieved of his administrative duties as Dean of Administrative Affairs during the pendency of the investigation, as a precautionary measure to ensure that the investigation remains completely independent and cannot be influenced in any manner. The findings and appropriate action should follow from the established investigative process... As students, we believe that the concerns arising from this tragedy must remain student-led and addressed within the Institute. The loss of Sahil should not become a platform for external political interests, organisations, or narratives to shape the concerns of the IIT Bombay student community. Our demands have emerged from the experiences and concerns of students on campus, and we believe that the process of reform should continue to remain rooted in the student community and the Institute."

I strongly oppose the charges against Prof. Suryanarayana Doolla of IIT Bombay under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
My background: I belong to the Devendra Kula Vellalar (DKV) community, classified as SC. I grew up in deep rural poverty and witnessed the suffering of my people first-hand. I was educated thanks to broad-minded people from many communities.
I studied Electronics at NIT Tiruchirappalli, worked at C-DOT Bengaluru, and then at Intel in India and the US, where I rose to Engineering Director and Senior Silicon Architect, responsible for high-speed interconnects vital to modern CPUs and GPUs. I hold multiple patents in this field.
I share this to make clear that I know what it means to come from an SC community and rise through hard work and commitment.
Our DKV community has taken a principled, voluntary stand not to file SC/ST cases against anyone. We have seen how cases under this Act are weaponised, and how that deepens enmity on the ground.
On that basis, I oppose the misuse of this Act in this case. The case against Prof. Doolla must be withdrawn. This matters for the future of SC/ST students and for our nation.
Jai Hind 🙏

I invite dialog on a very serious issue that affects the future of our country:
Its true that the academic institutions continuously need to update their curricula. It is true that teachers need to excel in their teaching. They should nurture students and not torture them. 1/11

did my B.Tech at IIT Bombay and my PhD at IIT Delhi. I've been a professor for 14 years now. In 22 years of watching the IIT/IIIT system closely, I have never once witnessed a teacher discriminate against a student on the basis of caste.
During my B.Tech, most of us had no idea what caste our batchmates belonged to. Many of my close friends were SC/ST. We never discussed it. It never entered any conversation or decision. Not once. Our exposure to the humanities department was limited, though — the term "Brahmanical patriarchy" didn't even exist back then.
As a teacher, I don't ask a student's name before solving their doubt. Often I don't know their name at all — some of my classes have 300+ students. We treat them all the same. So does every colleague I know. So did every professor who taught me.
Social media has now filled vulnerable students' heads with a lot of manufactured grievance about caste discrimination that, in my experience, doesn't exist.
#powai residents, it's time to wake up
Despite 1000s of letters & mails to Garden authority of @mybmcWardS our petition to @MMRDAOfficial & their assurance of taking in objections before deciding to bulldoz 1/3 of an old forest park work has begun to kill the #PramodMahajanPark. Such contempt for people! This is done for an MNC commercial project of @Brookfield though they have enough land to make the road 😞

#JNU
A multinational coffee counter once sustained a 10-month political argument at Jawaharlal Nehru University. Electricity meters and an Rs 80 increase in the price of a prospectus helped trigger an indefinite agitation. JNU students were among the first on Delhi’s streets after the Nirbhaya gang rape. When eight women accused a professor of sexual harassment in 2018, more than 1,000 students and teachers marched through the capital. JNU protests have brought classes to a standstill, kept senior administrators confined to their offices and dominated national headlines for days. Against that record, the campus response to sexual-harassment allegations made by 11 students in May 2026 appears "markedly subdued."

One of the many ways to bypass laws. Poison trees and declare them dead and chop them off. And now this because the builders around are aware of the massive protests of residents of Powai now they are up to these devious means to destroy the forest park! Shame! #savepowai

Hello Infra Story,
JVLR at L&T Powai is perfect location for a Data Centre.
Mithi River, Powai Lake, Vihar Lake, SGNP & Aarey Forest are all in the immediate vicinity
Unlimited open land
Unlimited ground water

Data Centres should not be allowed in land scarce expensive Metropolitan Regions like Mumbai, Pune
Move them to AURIC, Konkan and MIDC’s having cheap land close to ISTS Transmission Grid
Data Centres don’t create job (except Civil). I do not consider them as Infra Investments.

A #Datacentre is coming up on JVLR as per @zoru75. Remember we bring water for mammoth population of #Mumbai from 100-125 km. Now look at water consumption, forget power consumption of a Datacentre vis a vis daily citizen consumption. Is it fair? Is it justifiable?
