During these dog days of summer, remember to pick up after your pets! One gram of dog waste contains millions of bacteria. Dog waste also doesn't biodegrade quickly -- it sticks around for a long time compared to other animal waste. Please share this video and spread the word!
Hillsborough residents can purchase a rain barrel at a discounted price and schedule pickup in town. It's not too late to collect some rain for your plants this summer.

Coming soon, we will be announcing the 2026 Stormwater Control Measure Owners of the Year!
A stormwater control measure (SCM) captures and treats stormwater runoff. If you see a pond near a shopping center, that’s probably an SCM. The stormwater wetland in Gold Park is an SCM.
Today, 3rd Graders at Hillsborough Elementary painted messages to remind everyone to keep pollutants out of storm drains at their school. We talked to them about stormwater runoff, and the students shared ideas for how to keep stormwater clean. Great job HES Dolphins!
This year, Orange County is raffling off a rain barrel as part of the Nature of Orange photo contest. There are a few more days to submit your entry! See Orange County's post for more info . . .
Did you know every adult entry in the 2026 Nature of Orange Photography Contest is automatically entered for a chance to win a FREE rain barrel?
Submit your photo by May 31 for your chance to win: orangecountync.gov/937/Photo…
