Delighted to work with @MidDevonDC to create a plan for mowing our community orchard much less than in previous years: the flowers & grass will now be left to grow long for wildlife, with just a few paths & picnic spots for humans & dogs.More pics in a few weeks 🐜🦋🐛🪲🐞🦆🦢🪺

Wahey, congratulations to us for winning a Britain In Bloom "Outstanding" award for the Tiverton Community Orchard last night: "An inspirational project which will greatly enhance community foraging and well-being. Fit for the future. Fantastic project."

Looking for green-fingered folk to help maintain #Tiverton's fantastic new community orchard
Fantastic - if slightly surprising - to see almonds, apples, cherries, gooseberries and blackcurrants already making their appearance in the Tiverton Community Orchard 🍒🍎🫐🥜

The oh-so-beautiful signs are here and going up just in time for our grand opening on Friday at 11am (behind Morrisons in Tiverton - see previous tweets for invite)
We’re almost there on our orchard fundraiser, with 10 days to the grand opening: can anyone pitch in with some💰to push us over the line and get the fences and signboards up before next Friday ?
We're fundraising £1,500 for Tiverton's first-ever Community Orchard, already planted with 50+ fruit & nut trees & bushes (all produce free to the public). Need ££ for signs, benches, mulch & canes 4 edible hedge🙏. Grand opening: Good Friday, 11am

Please don't replace turf with plastic grass. It:
🐝 Offers no food and shelter to wildlife
🌱 Has a high carbon footprint
⚠️ Wears out and ends up in landfill
🐬 Sheds microplastics which wash into rivers & the sea
💦 Worsens flooding
🙈 Looks rubbish
Yippee, our first pollinator 🐝 in the new Tiverton community orchard behind Morrisons😀😀😀
(Please contribute to our crowdfunder if u can, to make signs + buy hedges & last plants: gofundme.com/f/tiverton-tree…)
Blue skies, 36 humans, 6 dogs, bountiful soup… and all the planting at the ancient woodland COMPLETED. What a way to end the 2022 tree planting season. Thanks x a million to everyone who’s come along 2 a planting day this year 🙏
