Wilkommen Freunde to Dave's Car ID Service Oktoberfest Beer Truck Special!
Cue the oompah music and roll out the barrel, because we're going to toast some dandy sudsmobiles today. To wet your whistle: Happy Repeal! Not really a beer hauler here, but a 1932-34 Ford B truck modified as a mobile advertisement to announce Prohibition is over and it's time to buy a Blatz Old Heidelberg again. Note the loudspeaker; you can almost hear it pumping out "Happy Days Are Here Again."
"... spend a lot of time there ..." - Do you pay pro rata income taxes there like professional athletes?
I was based in California as a reporter, grew up there, and continue to spend a lot of time there. I think this deal will kill any chance Rob Bonta ever has of becoming a future governor of California. hollywoodreporter.com/busine…

Today's Dave's Car ID Service salutes the Goodwood Revival, the 2026 edition of which should be wrapping up in a few hours.
Since I've been doing this car ID thing, one of the more common replies I get is "when did people stop dressing like that?" Or "why can't we be dapper anymore?"
Well, the fact of the matter is that people CAN still be dapper, even at a loud car racing event. And the Goodwood Revival proves it.
In fact, being well attired is semi-mandatory there. Not in the bouncers-at-the-gate sense. But show up in jorts and a Tommy Bahama shirt, or any sort of non-pre 1967 period correct clothing, you will be the subject of withering glares of disdain and disapproval. For you are a vibe-ruining turd in the punchbowl.
That sort of peer pressure ensures that Goodwood is classy and dapper af. It's not all tweed and Ascot millinery, old timey blue collar workwear is welcome too. That was my shtick when I had the privilege to attend in 2024; late 1930 garage overalls accessorized with a vintage painted tie and flat cap; Mrs B in an Amelia Earhart flying cap & jhodpurs ensemble. So complete was my commitment to the bit that I shaved my 4" beard, saving only a William Powell style pencil mustache.
Anyhow it was among the most fun I've ever had at a car event, even if was besotted by rain. And my encounter with the "Mexican food" of West Sussex. And a lot of that is due to the fact they know how to keep it classy.
Like this classy dame and her poodle, color coordinated with a 1959 Chrysler 300E.
The Founding Fathers understood that democracy is equivalent to anarchy, so they put multiple layers of oligarchy between the people and the power of a centralized authority. The set things up so that the conflagrations of democracy would be limited to local constituencies and would burn out without engulfing the federation of States.
Fauci's pardon is effective only in the United States at the federal level. Where are the state prosecutors? Where is the ICC?
Just watching the SpaceX pre-launch. They really should do a NASA retrospective, where all the guys at computer monitors dress in short-sleeved white shirts and skinny black ties.
Reminded me to recharge this portable charger that I bought a year ago. Pulled off the shelf a couple of weeks ago - still holding 100% of its initial charge. Worked great on the trip, btw. amazon.com/dp/B0FDKH3DPP?th=…
Britain, it seems, has failed to observe the First Rule of Holes.
Andy Burnham has confirmed he’ll restrict VPNs, potentially bringing Britain in line with China, Russia and Iran. Starmer’s censorship regime will be expanded and deepened. Big Burnham will be watching you, says Fraser Myers

I’ve heard that the over/under on total Democrat congressional votes this year is 800 million. I’m taking the over.
Nice piece of work. If you are interested in the Big 12 lawsuit against Texas Tech and the Texas AG, you can find it here:

Blue bags up.
Japan 2, Netherlands 2 — an absolute thriller in Arlington. And then the real show started.
The Japanese end pulls out thousands of bright blue bags. First they wave them like flags, bouncing and chanting until the whole section is one giant wall of blue. Then — same bags, new mission. They fan out across the stands and scoop up every bottle, wrapper and cup till the seats look brand new.
And who's right in the middle of it, grinning with a bag in his hand? Jameis Winston. Giants QB. Heisman winner. Out there cleaning up with the Samurai Blue like it's the best gig of his summer.
No chore. No lecture. Just a party that cleans up after itself.
Best fans on the planet. 🇯🇵💙
