They told us for 50 years to "Eat less, move more".
But since the 1970s that's never been a fair fight:
In a 2016 study by the University of Alberta, scientists showed that folic acid acts as a direct molecular accelerant for visceral fat accumulation.

This explains very clearly why Folate and Folic Acid are not the same thing. Knowing the difference is very important.

☠️ SFA ☠️ is,a chemical, a drug, from raw materials including petroleum derivatives, coal tar & chemically manipulated GMO corn. Industrial process involves harsh chemicals, solvents, reagents like acetone, ammonia & formaldehyde to reconstruct it in a laboratory setting! ☠️

They could have used natural methyl folate instead, but it was more expensive. The 'gov' know exactly what they're doing, and know that manufacturers will always choose the cheapest option, not that I think they were given the choice! All about the £££ profits!

It is not just people with MTHFR variants.
Folic acid is badly processed by 100% of humans because our DHFR is made for natural folates not a synthetic oxidised molecule.
Folic acid also directly slows MTHFR in ALL HUMANS.

The UK is about to force synthetic folic acid into all non-wholemeal flour.
That medicates most of the population, without consent, for a negligible claimed benefit.
Futhermore, many people have an MTHFR variant that impairs conversion of synthetic folic acid into the usable form. Unconverted folic acid can build up in the blood.
Emerging evidence links excess folic acid to a range of issues, including neurological damage.

There's a point at which taxation stops encouraging contribution and starts discouraging ambition.
Why work harder? Why take risks? Why build something?
When success becomes something to penalise, don't be surprised when people stop trying.
You cannot tax a nation into prosperity.

‼️EVEN DSM-FIRMENICH - MAKERS OF BOVEAR ACKNOWLEDGE THAT UP TO 75% OF POPULATION MAY NOT BE ABLE TO PROCESS FOLIC ACID ‼️👇👇
THATS WHY THEY'RE MAKING SURE EVERYONE GETS IT, PREGNANT OR NOT.

Small flour mills are currently exempt from mandatory folic acid fortification.
But for how long?
If consumers increasingly turn to small mills to avoid synthetic folic acid, will the Government eventually close that exemption too?
Consumer choice should be protected by law, not left at the mercy of future regulations.

The Government calls it public health. I call it removing public choice.
Folic acid is being added to non-wholemeal wheat flour in an effort to reduce certain birth defects.
A worthy aim. But folic acid is synthetic, and not everyone processes it equally efficiently.
It could end up in hundreds of everyday foods, from your morning toast to your afternoon biscuit. Whether you want it or not.
We're not all pregnant. And we're certainly not all government property.

It is wrong to mass medicate the whole population.
It is wrong to wait for definitive proof of harm before deciding not to drug people.
It is especially wrong when there has never been a single trial designed to look at safety of folic acid.

No-longer expecting the government to repeal the fortification - @ClareCraigPath now also demand that private businesses change their practices.
And that all without even knowing whether there really is a problem.
Mandatory fortification of wheat flour for bread-making began in Australia in September 2009.
A 2025 study in "Nutrients" journal compared Adelaide pregnancy cohorts recruited before and after fortification.
Gestational diabetes incidence rose from 5.0% to 15.2% after fortification;
Red-cell folate (a marker of longer-term stores) increased by around 259%;
The share of women above the clinical reference range jumped from 0.5% to 57.6%;
Higher red-cell folate was associated with greater gestational diabetes risk;
Excess red-cell folate was linked to ~48% more gestational diabetes cases.
Placental hormones involved in glucose regulation were also higher post-fortification.
The authors concluded that maternal folate excess (from fortification plus widespread higher-dose or prolonged prenatal supplementation) is likely contributing to the rise and that known factors such as age, obesity, ethnicity, and diagnostic changes do not fully account for its magnitude or trajectory.
Animal data and other observational work support possible effects of high folic acid intake on insulin resistance and glucose regulation via placental function.
It's ironic that folic acid fortification of food may even be harming those that it is targeted at.
Mrs Alan, with no prior history of diabetes, developed gestational diabetes when pregnant with both our kids. She was fastidious at following the folic acid guidance. That's just one piece of data of course, but the Australian study suggests it might be a more widespread issue.

The government has "inadvertently" added this synthetic chemical to an astounding number of our basic foods to protect a tiny portion of pregnant women from neural tube defects & it turns out it does them more harm than good when mass mandated. See -> xitter.cf/MalHay/status/21092346…

What I don’t get is why Folic Acid is being introduced into a huge amount of food that we eat when it is deemed not safe for cancer patients & people with stents.
As we are being told that One in Two of us will get cancer in our lifetime this appears to be a very dangerous move.
So why are they doing it 🤔

250 mcg is being added to every 100g of flour.
188 mcg remains after baking.
Gov limit for over 50s is 200 mcg.
That means your daily flour limit will be 106g of flour.
You would need to eat one sandwich 80-90g.
A regular sandwich made of 80–90 g of bread (50-60g of flour) could use up roughly half that allowance (94-113 mcg).
If you eat that sandwich, here's what else you would need to watch:
Breakfast cereals fortified with folic acid
Toast, crumpets, muffins and croissants
Biscuits, cakes and pastries
Pizza, pasta and noodles made with fortified flour
Pies, pasties and sausage rolls
Yorkshire puddings, stuffing and gravy containing fortified flour
Any vitamin supplements containing folic acid
And that's before you've counted any other sources of folic acid.

Untreated B12 deficiency / pernicious anemia
History of cancer (high doses)
Epilepsy (esp. on phenytoin/phenobarbital)
