New Hampshire Democrats may be falling for a comfortable name (Shaheen), but we used to take risks:

Two things are true: 1. Brady was the greatest QB who ever lived and gave the region more sports joy than any athlete in Boston history. 2. The single-minded self-absorption/self-obsession it took for him to achieve #1 is a pretty negative character trait in most other aspects of life.

The nice thing about not being defined by your political affiliation is that you can call balls and strikes based on principle without having to defend the indefensible. And persuadable people are more likely to listen to a decent argument made by an impartial umpire

Long way to go, but Collins is polling better than she did against Gideon.

Every time they make a statement full of laughably false bravado, in the face of all actual real world evidence of their military weakness and ineptitude, Russia becomes more and more of a joke.🤣

It has been reported that a 125-decibel sound level was recorded at the Scotland v Haiti game during the pre match anthem singing of Flower of Scotland - the loudest ever noise level at a World Cup match. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We love Shaun here in the US because seeing our country through another set of eyes experiencing for the first time things we take for granted here reminds us to appreciate the little things. And what’s wrong with a little side hustle?

Libertarian Intervention I have many libertarian leanings, but when big "L" Libertarians argue the govt's first fiduciary responsibility isn't to its citizens, it's time for an intervention. Libertarians must accept: 1) The libertarian utopia is NEVER COMING. We will continue to live in a world of borders, nation states, laws, armies, and large institutions, and if we don't learn to manage them well, we will fail. 2) There has never been an example of shrinkage. Federal, state & local agencies never go away, they only grow. Each develops a cottage industry of dependents. It will take a shock to the system or better leaders. Be the latter, stop rooting for the former. 3) Self-reliance is a shitty sales pitch. Always has been. It will never beat promises of goodies. Those are the politicians that win. Always. 4) Libertarianism works best for healthy single guys in their 30's who live in the burbs, once read Ayn Rand, and make 6-figures (or have rich parents or successfully gambled on Bitcoin). Most others will need some sort of social services at one point or another. The goal should be to make those work better, not entertain delusions of their disappearance. 5) We live in a world of other nations. Some have nukes and hypersonic missiles. Unless you can convince them all to mutually convert and decentralize, we won't be the first to do it. 6) Libertarians will be first to make fun of commies that claim "real socialism has never been tried", but you know what else hasn't, LIBERTARIANISM. Maybe Afghanistan or Rwanda, but lawless anarchies will get order from the strongest warlord around. And I've seen you guys. It WILL NOT BE YOU.

It’s little known fact that the full text of his “no US travel” guideline includes a “except if it’s to bang Katy Perry” clause.

You could make this this exact argument about almost every constitutional law case, beginning with 2nd amendment cases. Either the text means what it says or it doesn’t. Can’t have it both ways.

It tells you everything you need to know about the state of politics in this country that moderates like Fetterman and Susan Collins who actually represent their moderate constituencies are demonized by their own parties because they won’t blindly adhere to the party line.
John Fetterman is the new Joe Manchin. He is not a Democrat.

Yup, there’s a sense here in the US of a divide that’s growing. It’s not enough to disagree with your political adversaries and try to win them over with better ideas and compromise (the true essence of politics). It’s easier (due in large part to social media) to hate them and wish them actual harm. Who knows where this ends, but I fear it won’t end well.
