BURGER WELLY 2023: The Invasion of the Burger Snatchers!
The countdown to Burger Welly '23 in on! One of my favourite times of the year, and this time I got to fever-dream this artwork for @WellyOnaPlate & everyone.nz
Some friends at Everyone.nz & the lovely people at @WellyOnaPlate asked me to illustrate some yummy posters for their 2023 event. This was one of my favourites!
Had some really nice back-and-forth on this one around native birds & magical forests.
Predictable series of events:

The attack of AI advertising is nigh!!! Are AI people in ads ethical? And would we be able to tell one if we saw one?
Inspired by a local NZ political party, I tested the tech & wrote a 'How to spot an AI Ad' piece for @TheSpinoffTV

Video is up! @AucklandUni invited me to discuss the intersection of Generative AI & Creativity for their Gibbons Lecture series, link below. I start yammering at about 12mins, after the lovely waiata & intros.
If you think it has value, share it :)

Last batch of comps of NZ creative work from the Laion-5B and Laion-400M image datasets - searchable database of 5.8 Billion images is at haveibeentrained.com/
Here are a few more pieces of NZ creative industry work that I found on haveibeentrained.com/ which is a visual database of images that are beings used in Generative AI training. Few more to follow.
You can learn more about it, search the database for images that may belong to you or others, & theoretically flag them from removal to stop them from being used in future builds or models.
I was lucky enough to chat about the impact of Generative AI on creative industries with Emile Donovan for The Detail, link below. Some thoughtful insights from Andrew Chen about ChatGPT and the broader space, too.
