Today in London, FCM President @TimTierney joined @CityofLdnOnt Mayor and Chair of FCM’s Big City Mayors’ Caucus, @JoshMorganLDN, Gatineau Mayor Maude Marquis-Bissonnette and Professor Romel Mostafa, Director of the Lawrence National Centre at the @iveybusiness to unveil the first national benchmark of how Canadian communities are experiencing trade-related pressures and responding on the ground.
As governments look to strengthen Canada's economic resilience and competitiveness, investing in local infrastructure will help communities support businesses, attract investment and position Canada for long-term growth.
This new research underscores the importance of investing in communities where growth, trade and opportunity happen.

Good news today—as a direct result of FCM's advocacy, the federal government has just launched the Canada Rental Protection Fund, a key element of a multi-faceted approach needed to tackle homelessness and affordability in Canada.
FCM has long called for a national fund to protect affordable housing in Canada, prevent people from falling into homelessness and shield renters from renoviction. As a community-led approach, today's announcement on this fund is a positive step in the right direction.
We will continue working with the federal government to see a renewed National Housing Strategy in Budget 2026, which should incorporate the Canada Rental Protection Fund and create and preserve non-market housing.

Bonne nouvelle aujourd’hui : pour donner suite aux démarches de la FCM, le gouvernement fédéral a lancé le Fonds canadien de protection des loyers, un élément important d’une approche à plusieurs volets pour lutter contre l’itinérance et améliorer le logement abordable partout au pays.
La FCM réclame depuis longtemps la création d’un fonds national pour préserver les logements abordables, pour prévenir l’itinérance et pour protéger les locataires contre les « rénovictions ». En tant qu’approche pilotée par le secteur du logement communautaire, cette annonce représente un pas dans la bonne direction.
Nous continuerons à travailler avec le gouvernement fédéral afin que la Stratégie nationale sur le logement soit renouvelée au budget 2026. Cette stratégie devrait intégrer le Fonds canadien de protection des loyers et veiller à créer et préserver des logements hors marché.

There’s always something special about the first day of school. A little excitement, a few nerves, and probably a few rushed mornings getting everyone out the door!
Wishing all students a great start to the year, and a big thank you to the teachers, staff, parents and caregivers helping make it happen.
A reminder for everyone on the roads too: school zones are busy again, so slow down and keep an eye out for students walking, biking and crossing.
Here’s to a great year ahead, and hopefully not too many forgotten lunch boxes! 😄

Et voilà, les sacs à dos sont prêts, les lunchs sont faits et c’est officiellement la rentrée pour les conseils scolaires anglophones! 🎒📚
La première journée d’école a toujours quelque chose de spécial. Un peu d’excitation, quelques petites inquiétudes et sûrement quelques matins plus pressés pour réussir à faire sortir tout le monde à temps!
Je souhaite une excellente rentrée à tous les élèves, et un grand merci aux enseignants, au personnel scolaire, aux parents et aux proches qui contribuent à bien commencer l’année.
Petit rappel aussi pour ceux qui prennent la route : les zones scolaires sont de nouveau très achalandées. Ralentissez et soyez attentifs aux élèves qui marchent, circulent à vélo ou traversent la rue.
Bonne année scolaire à tous, et espérons qu’il n’y aura pas trop de boîtes à lunch oubliées! 😄
It was great to join members of Ottawa’s Malaysian community and representatives from the High Commission of Malaysia at City Hall to celebrate Malaysia’s National Day. 🇲🇾
Canada and Malaysia share a longstanding friendship, and it was a pleasure to take part in the flag raising and recognize that relationship here in our nation’s capital.
Ottawa is fortunate to have a strong Malaysian community that contributes so much to our city through culture, business and community service.
Wishing everyone celebrating a very happy Malaysia’s National Day!

Le Canada et la Malaisie entretiennent une amitié de longue date, et j’ai été heureux de participer à la levée du drapeau pour souligner cette belle relation ici, dans la capitale nationale.
Ottawa a la chance de pouvoir compter sur une communauté malaisienne dynamique qui contribue à notre ville de nombreuses façons, notamment par sa culture, ses entreprises et son engagement communautaire.
