Novara kept asking about strategy at the Greens for Palestine press conference. They mistake a comms strategy for a political strategy. We have a political strategy and build our comms around it. The storm may be raging but the Greens will emerge from this stronger. I’ll explain the strategy in more detail to Novara at 6pm this Tuesday.

Quite important given Andy Burnham now dictating to Labour councillors they can’t be in coalition with Greens in local government. This is Westminster telling everyone else what to do. Politics from London. Command from the centre. Funny old world.

There are no divisions. There’s one ex-Green MP who is throwing a tantrum. Deputy Leader, like almost everyone else in the Greens, said the party will respect the democratic decision of the members and that we all back Zack. This is a media manufactured crisis. Don’t fall for it

The media is publishing non-stop bullshit stories trying to cause friction between Polanski, Ali, and others in Green leadership They did same with Corbyn and McDonnell - and it’s a sign of desperation You cannot trust a single thing mainstream journalists say about Greens now. They’ve declared war on a vehicle that threatens the entrenched power they serve Important to remember these people are not journalists; they are paid propagandists working to maintain UK oligarchy

For the love of all that is holy, will @TheGreenParty members who did not experience the establishment onslaught against Corbyn between 2015-2019 please talk to those of us that did, to understand what is going on? Of course they are going to come after @ZackPolanski . Of course they are going to find any wedge point they can and force it wide open, publicly, to create the impression that the party is fighting each other. Don't help them. If you don't believe us, please also look at what the French establishment has been doing to Melenchon and LFI for the past 10 years (although he is finally winning the argument and stands a good chance of being President after May 2027). Anyone challenging the status quo will be subjected to this. Internal solidarity is the only thing that will win. If you are someone who WAS subjected to attacks in the Corbyn era and are now criticising members you consider to be "impure" ffs, STFU. Do you not see you are being dragged into this quite deliberately to destroy the Greens? Jeez. So bloody tired. Don't @ me either.

Is the issue? 1. The Green Party passing a motion that Zionism is racism. Or 2. That that Zionism IS racism. Please RT after voting - thank you.

I’m confused. All the London journalists are telling us The Greens are finished. Could it be they have no f***ing idea what they are talking about?
Green Party wins Derbyshire election contest in two-horse race versus Reform UK... The Green Party managed to build on the success they have been cultivating in Amber Valley for nearly a decade on both the borough and county councils. derbyshiretimes.co.uk/news/p…

Important that @ZackPolanski wrote this. Ironically, given the chat this week, it shows leadership & balls to admit to the problems & explain what needs to change. Other political leaders aren’t real, normal people like Zack & that’s why they would never write a thing like this

The Greens who were happy to muddle along making zero national impact whatsoever now want to throw Zack Polanski under the bus.

Greens got 10% last time but centrist Greens would want Zack Polanski to resign with 29%? Absolute jokers I'd like to give centrist Greens a going away present but they'd have to do their part first #BackZack

Zack Polanski won the Green Party leadership election with 84.1% of the vote. He has a clear mandate to lead, and the party is in a stronger position now than it ever was under all previous leaders. A lesson for Polanski from the Corbyn years: don’t budge an inch for wreckers.

This simply isn’t true, & @RoryStewartUK should know better than to peddle such dangerous fantasies. The people seeking to come to the UK in these ways have already gone through so much worse than this. They simply will be forced into more clandestine & dangerous means of travel, they will not disappear. MY KINGDOM FOR A COMMENTATOR who accepts that there is no way to make refugees disappear😫😫😫
“If everybody arriving in Britain knew that they were immediately going back to France, the numbers would stop immediately”. Former Tory leadership contender, Rory Stewart, tells #Newsnight that the solution to the small boats issue lies in a return deal with France.

It's going to be interesting to find out how much of the "UK premium" that many pundits have been attributing to reduced confidence in the UK government since 2022 has actually been caused by active Bank of England gilt sales.
John Stepek@John_StepekSep 17
So the Bank of England is now going to sit on all the 2049-plus dated debt it holds until it matures. Going to be quite interesting now to get the real-world proof of just how much of a premium active selling was adding to yields. Quite a bit, judging by the reaction so far

I think your grasp of English is being tested Peter. You’re happy to say: “Persistent inflation happens when the money supply grows faster than real output” Without realising that ‘OUTPUT’ is the same as ‘SUPPLY’. So reduced Output = Supply Shock = Inflation As Milton would say

The RNLI are not alone in being targeted by the far right writes @minnierahman Half of NGOs & charities helping people seeking refuge have faced “credible death threats” and serious safety concerns since the riots of 2024 But a lack of action from leaders is allowing a tidal wave of abuse to escalate. We cannot wait for the worst to happen before serious action is taken!

Asylum Seekers are NOT illegal. It does not matter if they arrive in the UK by small boat, by lorry, plane train or yacht. They are NOT illegals no matter how many times actual convicted criminals called Danny or Tommy or the right wing media and politicians tell you they are.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
While asylum seekers have the right to claim protection, arriving in the UK without required leave or entry clearance is a criminal offence under Immigration Act 1971 s.24, and the government classifies such arrivals (e.g. small boats) as illegal entry routes. legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1971/77/… commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-brief… gov.uk/government/sta…

Exclusive: Did Kent Police ignore Dover blockade 999 call? Tonight we can reveal the story that undermines the public statement of Kent Police. Residents of Preston-next-Wingham, a tiny village of just 921 people, raised the alarm after hundreds of men dressed in black took over their roads, gardens and driveways to park their cars on Friday. 🧵

The new blackshirts on our streets in Dover & Portsmouth are just like the fascist scum that came before them: Violent, abusers of women, cowardly, and dangerous. Anyone more afraid of a refugee than a blackshirt needs to give their head a wobble.
Patriot Platform, the far-right group whose black-clad masked members caused hours of disruption in Dover yesterday, calls itself a Christian “army of patriots” dedicated to protecting women and children. There’s a problem with that story. Its supposedly “handpicked” and “vetted” members include men with violent criminal records, including convictions involving violence against women and violent disorder. And its founder, Danny Tommo, Tommy Robinson’s right-hand man, spent time in prison for his part in a botched kidnapping attempt over a drug dispute.

At what point does this become incitement by a sitting MP? Braverman and Jenrick whipping up race riots to cover up for their boss and his rampant corruption. Who polices this stuff? Why are they allowed to get away with it? My fear is that Reform feel bulletproof and that they will escalate and drive these goons to murder on the streets. They have been allowed to get away with everything. Zero accountability enables these power hungry racists to push further and further. This is not alright.
People in Portsmouth are angry, scared and feel like this government is actively trying to destroy the country. Enough is enough.
