I am leading a conversation (Webinar) called Interconnected tomorrow at 2pm
It is about how Physical, Mental and spiritual health are interconnected and looks at how we can thrive in a disabling world.
If you wish to come along please DM me and I’ll send you the link

Just seen this and I’m absolutely devastated. theguardian.com/society/2024… – at North West, England
This sums up academic life with pain…. I began work this morning and did a good hour, planning and thinking and writing things down…. Then my body said, enough!
An hour later I was waking up in pain in my office chair
One final weekend and I’m finished! Prayers appreciated!

Disabled
By my Cerebral Palsy (medical model)
And
By ableism & prejudice (social model)
Disabled
Not "with a disability"
as though I can put it down,
like it's a bag or set of house keys...
Not "differently-abled"
which still centres able-bodied...
Disabled
This is not Ok

On the eve of Disability Pride Month, it’s worth emphasizing that the term “disabled” is not an insult.
For many of us, despite its complicated nature, it is a source of pride.
Not keen on this sign!
Good job my new scooter goes faster!

For my Dissertation I need to read some books that link healing and evangelism
I have come across the heal and people will believe in Jesus brigade but don't know what books they might have written to explain this method
What names or titles should I look out for...

It strikes me that to have a good theology of healing, you also need a robust theology of suffering. Otherwise people suffer and even die with a sense of shame and failure that they were not healed. This is spiritual abuse. #spiritualabuse #shame #healing #suffering

3)The 'pity' narritive is very strong in this and doubled by the inherant sexism... focus on the big strong healthy man helping the poor woman in her wheelchair

The “feckless scrounger” myth is being peddled by the right wing media again. The ‘workless’ they so desperately want you to hate include people found too disabled or ill to work, carers slogging 24/7 for loved ones, and mums looking after young kids.
An astonishing 18% of people in Manchester are on out of work benefits - in the middle of a worker shortage crisis.
How could this be possible?

Been doing some writing for my studies and listening to the experiences of disabled people being excluded. Thanks @naomi_jacobs for the book 'At the Gates' - It's been really helpful today
I think the social model of disability and it’s variations are vital for understanding the disabling nature of society
But when your trying not to be pathetic, carry your own drink and your stick slips, you lose balance & paint the walls with hot chocolate it’s really annoying
