“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?” Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century. politico.com/news/magazine/2…

Heartbreaking for victims and their families, and Mr. Giamanco who had to kill the 16 year old suspect to saving countless lives. But also the weight of taking any life, and the guilt of feeling like you could have been there quicker, saved lives, is unimaginable.
Kaylub Giamanco was driving home from lunch when he heard gunshots and saw a gunman entering the Oregon elementary school his two young daughters attend. The carpenter ran into the school and killed the teenage suspect. nbcnews.com/news/us-news/man…

Pope Leo had surgery to remove part of his lung, which was found to be cancerous, and within 4 days was on the phone with Vladimir Putin to broker peace deals. We have an American hero on the world stage right now, and he is the Vicar of Christ.
Speaking by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Pope Leo XIV expresses his "deep concern about the grave humanitarian situation in the city of Oleshky, in the Kherson region," and calls for a ceasefire to allow the delivery of humanitarian aid. vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/…

I’m proud to have earned the Las Vegas Review-Journal's endorsement, which called me “a refreshing new voice in Washington.” Nevada deserves a leader who will defend our freedoms, strengthen our economy, and put hardworking families first. I’m ready to be that voice.

By far the weakest Dem candidate on the statewide ticket and privately there are Dems who acknowledge they wouldn’t mind seeing her lose.
I want to be clear: I would have preferred not to make this video. I am sharing it to explain my upcoming coverage of the race for California state controller, including my efforts to interview incumbent Malia Cohen (D-CA) and why my candidate interview coverage of this office will feature only her challenger, Herb Morgan (R-CA). I would have preferred to produce a piece giving both candidates equal time. Those are journalistic values that guide me every day. After weeks of outreach and back-and-forth with Cohen’s team, a Zoom interview was scheduled, then abruptly canceled by her team. I was told she had no availability to reschedule before the election. Her team said I could submit written questions for Cohen to answer in writing. I respectfully declined because I wanted voters to hear directly from her on camera, with the opportunity for follow-up questions. I told her team multiple times I wanted to ensure voters heard her side, her priorities, and answer why she deserves a second term in office. I made every effort to make that happen. Fairness is always my priority. My goal was to give both candidates the same opportunity to discuss their records, answer meaningful and tough questions, and speak directly to voters. I regret that I could not make that happen, but voters deserve transparency about the process.

The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty

One of the most interesting congressional races in the country is shaping up in northern Nevada.
Just in case you didn't think Flippo would sink lower after exaggerating his medals, attacking his former commander for telling the truth and breaking financial disclosure laws, he's now blaming his grandkids for his hat having a valor pin he didn't earn. His. Grandkids.

Is it time for American conservatives to rethink their traditional support for the death penalty?
Following the botched execution of Christa Pike, the Catholic and Episcopal Bishops of Tennessee call for the US state’s Governor to commute her death sentence and uphold their opposition to the death penalty. vaticannews.va/en/church/new…

I also asked @StevenHorsford's campaign about debating @CodyK4congress. His campaign said he didn't turn down a debate. But Channel 8, which made an offer, couldn't get an agreement from his team by their deadline, so there won't be one in #NV04. thenevadaindependent.com/art…

Imagine campaigning on transparency & record, and then treating NV voters like a high maintenance ex…Horsford, Titus & Lee aren’t just dodging #NV04, #NV02, #NV01 voters, they’re ghosting them.
NEW: There will be, at most, one debate in Nevada's congressional races this year. If it happens, it will be in #NV02 next week. "I fully expect someone to back out but as of this morning they are both confirmed," the host told me yesterday. Details: thenevadaindependent.com/art…
