Victorians will now be able to allocate their preferences when voting above the line for the Vic upper house. Legislation has just passed both houses, ending an embarrassing undemocratic period in our history.

Rents are at record highs.
House prices are out of reach.
And the Victorian Labor Government is demolishing public housing, and handing the land to private developers.
But it doesn't have to be this way!
The Greens have a plan to make housing affordable...
Can't believe my old university has become so timid that it would do this. I am ashamed.

Labor and the Liberals have failed us, and it's opened the door for right-wing opportunists like Pauline Hanson's One Nation.
But swapping one corporate-backed party for another won't fix things.
It's why the Greens don't take donations from billionaires or big corporations.

If Group Voting Tickets are to be abolished for VIC upper house elections, the Electoral Commission said legislation was needed by August. The Vic Parliament has one week of sittings before then. It's starting to look like the preference whisperers will be working in November. /2
The Greens are calling for a moratorium on new AI data centres.
These power & water hungry data centres will keep us hooked on dirty coal and gas, push back our transition to renewables and threaten our access to drinking water.

They guzzle power and water, they don't make good neighbours, but Labor are letting them bypass planning processes and set up shop with no regulation or requirement to run off 100% new renewable energy.
All for what? To line the pockets of big tech billionaires like Elon Musk.
Today teachers did something incredible - they chose to stand in solidarity with education support workers and reject the Allan Labor Government’s divisive and low ball pay offer.
I know this would have been a hard decision for a lot of teachers. (1/2)
You work hard and are the lowest paid in the country.
But this offer from Labor pitted hard working, underpaid coworkers against each other.
The Greens will be right there with you for every strike.

A VAGO report, released today, found the Victorian School Building Authority is not recommending school upgrades based on need and instead based on “often informal, undocumented processes” including undocumented discussions with the Minister's office.

Very interesting report on Victorian school funding just released by the Auditor General.
This page shows that while the Government is supposed to fund school upgrades based on need, they’re often actually doing it based on political and Ministerial interference.

Pressure on Labor and Libs to give IBAC the power to investigate grey corruption, not just criminal offences.
Despite the rhetoric, Liberals oppose this change, and Labor will "look at legislative options" next year.
Greens want this simple change now.

The 20 richest Australians have more money than 3 million households.
Why is that a problem?
Because billionaires have more money than ever before, and they’re using it to buy more political influence.

The fuel crisis isn’t over, so why is Labor making Victorians pay for public transport again - especially when Tasmania is keeping it free and Queenslanders only pay 50 cents?! theage.com.au/national/victo…

Labor’s doing nothing to fix corruption, they’re just saying whatever they need to say to make a political headache go away.
We don’t need a review of a review, we need to fix the corruption in Victoria that’s seen billions go lost & unchecked on Labor’s infrastructure projects.
Today the Premier announced greater powers for IBAC, Victoria’s anti-corruption body. So she should, given she told Victorians she’d sent corruption allegations to IBAC, without mentioning that IBAC told her they had no power to investigate.
But there's a problem… 1/6
This year the Lib-Nat coalition and the government voted AGAINST an amendment to give IBAC the most important power it wants: to remove the requirement that it only investigate matters which are an offence. This is the key power, to be able to look into grey corruption. 5/6
