Here's where I stick all the social justice and environmental stuff that would bore/piss off my friends on Facebook. See @Botany_Tim for botany tweets

This story is one of the most disturbing I've ever covered. It's about how the views of a deeply weird ideological sect affected science, medicine and the media, with devastating impacts on patients. Please read and pass on. This horror has to stop. theguardian.com/commentisfre…

Devon has lost the scone wars. Basically everywhere in Britain uses the 'Cornish method' (i.e. jam first). Even in Devon itself, only 49% use the 'Devon method' (i.e. cream first), while 46% go jam first yougov.co.uk/society/article…

The >60,000 people who took to the streets at #RestoreNatureNow yesterday gained minimal press coverage compared to the 2 people who sprayed paint powder on stonehenge This is why we take disruptive action This is the Activist's Dilemma

This is not an attempt to justify what happened at Stonehenge today, or even to change anyone’s mind about it. I’d simply like to add some context that I feel has been missing from some reports, statements and tweets.

Northern Lights clearly visible right now in our corner of Surrey! Never seen them before this far south in my life. Tonight is the biggest geomagnetic storm for 20 years #NorthernLights

Help we gerrymandered the wrong demographic
I am sorry about this. The legislation on acceptable forms of ID came out before the veterans ID cards started coming out in January this year. I will do all I can to change it before the next one.

This 👇 #Vote
I could use my lovely blue tick to go off on some thousand word diatribe about how beyond awful these low-lying scoundrels are, but instead I’ll just stick with: register to vote, make sure you have the right ID to vote, and vote.

The Companion of Honour, which recognises achievements in science and the arts, is limited to 65 people - Peter Higgs has just died, and there's therefore a vacancy. I'm not sure what has Kate done to deserve this honour alongside Sir Paul Mccartney and Dame Maggie Smith.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
While it is true that Catherine has become a Companion of Honour, it is not the case that she has taken the place of Peter Higgs. Royal members are counted separately to the 65 ordinary members, amongst which there are currently three vacancies. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_…

It’s the greatest medical scandal of the 21st Century. Intransigent doctors and gullible journalists have made the lives of ME/CFS patients a living hell. A massive and shocking story in this week’s column. theguardian.com/commentisfre…

An excellent & detailed account of by far the maddest element of so-called ‘culture wars’. The endless stream of whining inadequates claiming that their opinions are somehow censored or not permitted dominate almost every media platform in the land… prospectmagazine.co.uk/ideas…
