‘What McInerney accomplishes in this book is a significant contribution to our understanding of how & from where race theory developed during the eighteenth century.’ @JECSjournal reviews Nobility and the Making of Race in Eighteenth-Century Britain.

I think @PassportIrish did some really interesting stuff on deforestation & colonisation.. wood as a resource, agriculture, removing a food source & shelter of local inhabitants. I think about that often tbh.
We’re talking all about my new book over on the @PassportIrish podcast, where a fresh episode is out today! 📕
Nobility is the topic of our all-new episode - how did it work, or not work, in 18th-century Ireland? How did it influence the emerging concept of race? And why were some Irish nobles simply too sexy to govern? Find out here 👇open.spotify.com/episode/6Y8…

In part 2 of our @PassportIrish episode on Ireland’s lost forests, we somehow managed to discuss: butter mountains, feral goats, professional farters (yes), what makes a rainforest a rainforest, and whether I could win in a fight with a lynx.
Out now!👇

Did you know that bees sleep between 5-8 hours a day, sometimes in flowers? Also, they like to sleep with other bees and hold each other’s feet.

Somehow, in our latest @PassportIrish episode on Ireland’s Lost Forests, we ended up discussing whether this image👇 shows a man going number 2. Find out why, in an all new ep, out now.
A new episode is out!
Naomi and Tim delve into the history of deforestation in Ireland and its tangled associations with colonialism and agriculture, and whether the ‘green’ image of Ireland is all that it seems.

My aim in this piece was to demonstrate how the oppressive legal environment shapes the information the public is allowed to know.
A major issue emerged:
Landlords and property developers going after journalists who report on property defects and evictions
ipi.media/ireland-how-the-we…
Tourists staging romantic poses outside filming locations from ‘Emily in Paris’, surrounded by literal mountains of (very stinky) rubbish piling up from the refuse workers’ strike.
There’s a metaphor in here somewhere, I’m sure of it …

🚨In a brand new episode we investigate the IRA’s assassination of Lord Louis Mountbatten in 1979, and explain how the attacks of that day came to represent a crucial new phase for the Troubles and for Anglo-Irish relations. Out now👇open.spotify.com/episode/6et…
