15 years ago today, #UConnFootball star #JasperHoward died after being stabbed to death on-campus, just hours after helping UConn to a big win over Louisville.
In retrospect, what he told me and other media members after that win was heartbreaking.

If any of you are wondering why I haven’t been at work the past week and a day, it’s because I got my right hip totally replaced a week ago. While I take more time to recuperate, I’m taking up beard growing. Any post-replacement advice would be appreciated!
This was the most heart-stopping end to a basketball game in UConn history. There have been bigger and more important ones, but this aged me five years in ten seconds. I died inside and was brought back to life three times.
