It has recently been called “The Most Important AI Company You’ve Never Heard Of,” and this week SIERRA portco @reflection_ai launched its first open-weight model, Beam.
Here’s why it matters. Most of the strongest open-weight models today, like GLM, Qwen and Kimi, come from Chinese labs. Beam is Reflection’s answer: an American model that goes head-to-head with them on coding and reasoning, using a fraction of the compute.
Because it’s open, enterprises and governments can run it on their own data and infrastructure. They get the model without being locked into anyone else’s.
