One of the first supporters of my work passed away. Stephen Applebaum. I don’t have any words for it, I talked to him a few weeks ago when I found out his cancer was back. May his memory be a blessing.

The intellectual dishonesty in this series of tweets won't be unfamiliar to students of the Stalinist parties after WW2. Katyn? The Sling trials? Rajk? Never mind the hard evidence of atrocity let's consider the motive for presenting it, or some of the language used.
I also attended this screening and, as Giles says, the footage was distressing. It also confirmed my belief it should be passed to news organisations who can verify & report it independently as opposed to it being packaged by IDF and shown to influencers who can tweet afterwards.

Today marks the start of 16 Days of Activism aimed at ending violence against women & girls. As a woman, Mum, Cllr, friend, I get fed up of empty words and slogans in this arena. Governments globally need to step up to address how we do this.

Judi Dench was on Graham Norton last night to push her new book about her life and work with Shakespeare. After making the point we quote Shakespeare daily without knowing it, this happened:

Elderly woman before Hamas Elderly woman after Hamas And yet the narrative being pushed by @BBCNews @SkyNews is she was treated well. Despite her own statements entirely to the contrary & her husband still a hostage. You are watching modern Holocaust denial in real time.

The world didn't need to see images of those slaughtered by ISIS in the 2015 Paris terror attacks to believe the French government. The world didn't need to see images of those murdered by ISIS in the 2017 Barcelona attack to believe the Spanish government. But after 1,400 Israelis were raped, beheaded, burned, tortured, kidnapped, and murdered, Israel's government is still forced to hold a screening of raw footage of Hamas' crimes against humanity to the international press. And in case you were wondering, even this will not be enough.

All of us in the UK who are not Jewish - an immense, an overwhelming majority - have a responsibility in these troubled times to make our Jewish fellow-citizens feel valued & safe. A responsibility that clearly right now we are failing to meet. It shames the country.

Now let the snivelling apologists for rape, murder and torture explain how this, too, was justified.
'About 40 babies were taken out on gurneys... Cribs overturned, strollers left behind, doors left wide open' Our correspondent @Nicole_Zedek continues to survey the horror scenes left behind in Kibbutz Kfar Aza where Hamas invaded and murdered dozens of Israelis in their homes

The world is seeing appalling images. Thousands of rockets raining down on Israeli cities. Hamas terrorists killing not only Israeli soldiers, but civilians on the streets and in their homes. It’s unconscionable. Israel has a right to defend itself – full stop.

You can't find glasses in nature. Glasses don't address the "root cause" they just mask the symptoms. Our ancestors didn't wear glasses and they survived. Squinting is safer but being suppressed. Glasses aren't holistic and don't treat the whole person. Buy my supplements.
I guess it was only a matter of time before the anti-glasses grift became a thing? This community is so hellbent on having a contrarian opinion on every incredible scientific invention.

I once reprinted bad reviews on a cover, but they were quoted in full for fun.
The debate over blurbs has intensified with the Society of Authors denouncing the industry’s “morally questionable” use of “puff” on book jackets with Bonnier Books UK planning a good practice guide for future use. Read more here: thebookseller.com/news/bonni…

If I were King Lear, I'd simply not divide my kingdom between my daughters according to how much they flatter me, and instead begin a peaceful transition to constitutional monarchy while building a robust welfare state. It would be the most thrilling drama in the English canon.

Shakespeare had a twin?! 🤯 We are thrilled to announce that we have found a missing page of William Shakespeare’s will! Long thought lost, it names a long-lost twin brother as one of the heirs to his estate. bit.ly/GlobeBlogShakespeareT…
