I haven’t stopped thinking about this poem since I read it a few days ago in The Poetry Review @PoetrySociety. A wonder.

Am still keen to hear from more patch birders, particularly those from less well represented groups e.g. female, age <40 etc. Am also looking for people fairly new to patch birding. If you're interested, get in touch either via DM or through the contact form on the website.

Giant squid species wrecked on Scarborough beach this morning. Its parrot beak in the first picture, its eye in the second. Special abysmal jellies. Where’s it to, you Moby Dick?

An amazing and distinguished innings Julian. Many congratulations
I first came to work here on 17th October, 1979. Today was my last as a member of The BBC’s staff. It has been a great adventure and it’s not, I hope, all over. I aim to keep making radio and other audio.

This is so neat, imagining the Waxwings hoovering up the berries in nearly every supermarket carpark from the north to the south of GB.
The last Waxwing map received a lot of interest so here are more movements of colour-ringed Waxwings seen throughout the UK in the second half of winter! The static map includes a bird ringed in Aberdeen in 2022, then seen in Denmark, and then in Wales this year! @_BTO
