Gallego uses campaign donor money to pay for child care
Child care should not be a luxury. We need to make high-quality child care as universal as possible so that every parent can afford to work and raise their kids.

United Airline’s CEO took home $32.3 million last year and now wants a national wealth tax and inheritance taxes “close to 100 percent.” Scott, nobody’s stopping you. U.S. Treasury has a webpage for gifts to pay down the debt. Go for it! You don't need the government to force you to do what you can already do.

🚨WATCH: Fairfax County Executive Bryan Hill was stopped by a police officer and pulled the “don’t you know who I am” card. I obtained the police body worn camera video and emails related to the stop in a FOIA. On Friday, Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis came to the officer’s defense in an email to the Deputy County Executive:   “Per our conversation, please see the below link to the traffic stop this afternoon involving County Executive Bryan Hill. County Executive Hill called me during and after the traffic stop and relayed the following:   “There’s a lot going on, but if this is what you guys want to do…” “My front tag is on my dashboard…” “I don’t mind him doing his job, but he was disrespectful. That’s my issue.” “He had no idea who I was…” “If I had a badge, he would’ve let me go.”   As you watch the BWC, you will hear the County Executive say the following to our officer:   “Did you hear who I told you I am?”   I told the County Executive that the requirement to have a front license plate affixed to the front of a car is a Commonwealth statute, and not a Fairfax County rule. I also told him his allegation the officer was “disrespectful” is something I will review immediately and take seriously.   I have reviewed the BWC in its entirety. The young officer was 100% professional, cordial, and polite at all times. There will be no internal action taken against the officer whatsoever.   I called the officer on his cell afterwards and told he performed in an exemplary manner consistent with our expectations and training. In short, he did a great job under a tough circumstance that was not created by him.”   Deputy County Executive Thomas Arnold replied, “My apologies for the behaviors of the County Executive. I will review this tonight and then have a follow-up with him and discuss an apology for both you and the officer. Circle back with you soon.”

The qualifications to be Attorney General of Virginia, apparently: You must have an office that misspells “Virginia,” “Attorney” and “Senator.” You must send texts fantasizing about shooting a political adversary—and write about going to opponents’ funerals to piss on their graves. You wish for your political adversaries children to die in their mother’s arms. You must get convicted of reckless driving after doing 116 mph in a 70-mph zone. Then submit 500 hours of work for your own political action committee as “community service” to help mitigate your punishment. You must suffer high-profile courtroom setbacks defending the Democrats’ redistricting scheme and gun restrictions—then keep promising the next appeal will fix everything. You must celebrate winning a case preserving in-state tuition eligibility for students here illegally. Meanwhile, Virginians are asking why the governor’s administration sent voting-rights restoration letters to dead people. You must defend Virginia’s attempt to tell federal law-enforcement officers whether they can wear masks—and have a federal judge block enforcement while the case proceeds. Quite a résumé for the Commonwealth’s chief law-enforcement officer.

🚨NEW: High Inflation Drives 3.6% Social Security COLA Social Security beneficiaries will receive a 3.6% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) in 2027, based on today’s inflation data. This COLA will be 0.8 percentage points higher than last year’s 2.8% COLA and 0.9 percentage points above what the Social Security Trustees recently projected. With Social Security’s retirement fund less than six years away from insolvency, action will be needed soon to prevent a 22% benefit cut that could wipe out the previous nine years’ worth of COLAs all at once in 2032.

The reply above is an example of Holocaust denial. See our page debunking many deniers’ lies. stopdenial.auschwitz.org The claim that cremating the victims of Auschwitz would have taken “a hundred years” is based on two fundamental errors: treating the Auschwitz crematoria like modern civilian crematoria and assuming that every body was burned in a furnace. Auschwitz did not have simply “four ovens.” There were five crematoria buildings with a total of 52 cremation muffles, including 46 in Birkenau. Crematoria II and III alone contained 15 muffles each. Nor were these facilities operated according to modern civilian standards. The SS used them continuously, without coffins and without separating individual remains. The furnaces were kept at operating temperature for extended periods and were used under conditions designed to dispose of bodies as rapidly as possible. Most importantly, we have an original SS document dated 28 June 1943 in which the Auschwitz Central Construction Office calculated the theoretical combined capacity of all five crematoria at 4,756 bodies per 24 hours. Whether this figure could be maintained continuously is a separate technical question, but it demonstrates how far removed the actual installation was from the “one body every two hours” assumption used in denial calculations. And the furnaces were not the only method used. Before the large Birkenau crematoria were completed, the SS exhumed tens of thousands of bodies from mass graves and burned them on open-air pyres. During the deportation of Hungarian Jews in 1944, when the number of murdered people exceeded the practical capacity of the crematoria, large outdoor burning pits were again used near Crematorium V and Bunker 2. These burnings are documented not only by eyewitness testimony but also by the clandestine photographs taken by members of the Sonderkommando in 1944 and by other contemporary evidence. Learn about strategies employed by Holocaust deniers to spread misinformation and falsehoods. Online lesson: lekcja.auschwitz.org/negacjo… Podcast: auschwitz.org/en/education/e… Holocaust denial has nothing to do with the truth. It is a mendacious conspiracy theory. A dangerous & hideous carrier of antisemitism & hatred that hurts people. Deniers lie to harass & insult the memory of the victims. The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty

My 3 cents on Social Security: 1. The fiscal cliff is coming. We're going to have to do something--either raises taxes or cut benefits. 2. Whatever we do, let's not leave people in the lurch who depended on the government's promises and are now too old for a plan B. 3. The whole mess illustrates why we can't depend on the government's promises. Privatize whenever possible.
