We have crossed $45,000 this morning. If you're a little unsure about Kickstarter, here's how it works. We are not raising money for a charitable cause, we are collected PRE-ORDERS FOR BOOKS. Specifically, an epic American fantasy trilogy. (By the way, the "Kickstarter" or "pre-order" price of the books is cheaper than the retail price will be later, especially if you buy all three.) The books are written. We will ship them with their sprayed edges and their endpapers and probably their interior art, too (I am confident) probably in March. At the link below you can learn more about the series and the campaign and you can back the project (which means, you can pre-order the books, and buy T-shirts and caps if you like): kickstarter.com/projects/hap…

I travelled south today from the lands of the Misaabe. The sons of Anak and their bloodthirsty dogs were busy elsewhere, or they did not consider me interesting prey. I saw the towers of Oranbega, watching for Penn's fleet with their signal fires ready. I was not anxious to be seen by the Ophidians either, so I kept to the footpaths, eating my own food and saluting no one with more than a nod. My Johnslander accent will betray me here. Now I huddle in a small room in a roadside tavern, reviewing the fascicles I have brought with me before I toss them in the fire. Tomorrow, I will speak to the members of a cell here. Then I will retrace my journey, hoping not to encounter the servants of the Heron King who hunt me. Outside in the night, I hear the beastkind howl. The Kickstarter campaign backers are overwhelmingly getting the books, and that is WONDERFUL. The books are the thing that we most want to get into the hands of people, which is to say, readers. It's also true that we have some pretty groovy swag. Our swag guy is Byl Kravetz at Odin's Eye Embroidery in Nampa, Idaho; he does terrific work. I love the T-shirt designs (simple but correct; Byl suggested the layout), and I may never drink anything out of an unbranded mug again. We are marching toward the next stretch goal at $50,000 (that's the Epic Map). You can learn more, follow our progress, and back the campaign here: kickstarter.com/projects/hap…

This comment comes from a curious account: generic handle, meaningless profile pic, minuscule following. Nevertheless, let us take the question seriously. The Witchy War already exists. Why give it a Kickstarter campaign? The commenter is referring to this Kickstarter campaign, of course: kickstarter.com/projects/hap… Why kickstart these books? Non-exhaustive thread. 1/9
