Time to up-level our routes. Yesterday, we worked in pairs to plan and explain a route, today we are going at it on our own. Planning a new route, naming, estimating and measuring angles, as well as using nautical references. We will test our instructions later #accurate #Beagle

Today we are Captain FitzRoy, of the HMS Beagle. Our task is to plot a route around The Galapagos, visiting each island. We then need to write detailed instructions explaining angles, nautical headings and degrees to check our progress! #collaboration #angles #Darwin

Computing champions! Tiger class have been using software to hack our blog site before using #kodu to create our own Galapagos Archipelago to sail around. This will help us in maths later when we will plot our course and use angles and nautical directions to travel @TechElliston

Tiger class are busy getting their head back into writing code. Using @hourofcode website, they are able to play, edit and re-write parts of games. Skills such as coding and debugging are being tested and improved. Great way to start the Summer term! @TechElliston #EllistonICT

Fun with parents. Year 5/6 invited parents in for a morning of craft and Easter activities. We created cracked eggs 🥚 with dinosaurs 🦖 hatching 🐣 from them. We then decorated and wrote our own cards to loved ones. #ParentsActivityMorning

How do the eyes portray emotions? In Tiger class, we have been exploring the importance of the eyes in art. We looked at hiding our faces but leaving the eyes before trying to show an emotion. It was our partners task to name the emotion. We will use this in our art #EllistonArt

Yesterday, we wrote descriptions on witnessing St Elmo’s Fire aboard the HMS Beagle. We filmed reports on IPads as if we were a news crew. Great tone and clarity in their voices to purvey awe and wonder! #EllistonEnglish #TigerClass

This morning, in Tiger class, we are exploring possible reasons for butterflies 🦋 markings. We have thought about things such as, safety, gender, attracting a mate, age and what they might taste like. Great collaborative learning! #EllistonEnglish #collaboration #Darwin

Elliston have been given the challenge of creating a class acrostic poem using our school @ellistonacademy as a stimulus. The children in Jackal are collaborating with partners to create their own poems. We plan to share them with each other and vote for our class entry.

To celebrate Poetry and our Outstanding school, we have been set a challenge to create an acrostic poem. We generated lots of ideas using post-it notes and put them on our working wall. Children have been up to magpie ideas for writing their own. #poetry #EllistonEnglish

What a lovely day. All the children embracing the red theme and raising money 💰 for a great cause. Learning doesn’t stop though, Red Nose Day comprehension followed by Red Nose maths. All good fun. Miss Pope’s last day with us too!
WOW! What an amazing start to @ScienceWeekUK. We have had a very interesting day which allowed us to trial and explore different experiments. Children have demonstrated outstanding levels of inquisitiveness and the need to find out more! I can’t wait to begin properly on Monday!

#BritishScienceWeek launch assembly. We looked at what science is, what we thought and then demonstrated some super science experiments for the children. Thank you to all our helpers who unwittingly got messy! 😃🧠🧠
