‼️UP Govt Approaches Supreme Court for Urgent Hearing to Allow 91% Reservation in 4 SCP Medical Colleges‼️
A week ago, Allahabad High Court stayed UP Govt's decision to give 91% reservation in 4 SCP medical colleges.
High Court came down heavily on the UP govt & said that their decision was in clear violation of govt's own 2025 undertaking in High Court (in which UP govt had promised to give only 50% SC/ST/OBC reservation in these colleges from 2026 onwards).
Now the UP govt has approached Supreme Court for an urgent hearing (SLP-Diary no. 59123/2026) & is requesting SC to allow 91% reservation in these colleges.
FYI, last year Allahabad High Court had cancelled the 91% reservation matrix.
But UP govt filed a special appeal saying counselling is over & it will cause depression in SC students. Court had allowed it on condition that UP govt will correct the reservation matrix from 2026. Govt even gave an undertaking in Court regarding this.
However, this year, not only UP govt breached it's own undertaking in Court & gave 91% reservation again, but also they are using same tactic as last year (filing a special appeal asking for counseling to continue as it's too late).
And then we have people who still say BJP is GC-friendly??

Across most European countries:
- Your primary education, healthcare is free (& quality).
- Even higher education is subsidized.
- You also don't need to put air-purifiers.
- In case you get fired, there are unemployment benefits.
- So basically high taxes fund: education, healthcare and unemployment uncertainty.
For a salaried Indian in the top bracket, the marginal rate plus cess and surcharge is close to European levels.
On top of that, you pay separately for private school, private hospitals, health insurance, air purifiers, water filters and power backup.
So basically you're paying twice.
