When will you guys pick up the Constitution and read it? The president can't reduce the NASS budget, expenses, or salaries. Instead, the NASS approves the budget for the president, and he dares not spend a dime outside that approval. The President goes before them to present his budget and seek their approval.
The budget of the National Assembly is a first-line charge or statutory transfer, paid directly from the Federation account and does not require any presidential approval for release. The President can't stop or cancel the National Assembly's budget, infact the National has the powers to veto or override the President and bypass him completely to pass any budget.

Once again, an innocent person, this time around, a child has been gruesomely killed by a Police officer. While the Police have taken steps to detain the officer involved, it is important to note that detaining the officer is only a preliminary effort, there must be accountability as to how the life of a promising young child was terminated.
That the officers were responding to a clash involving people armed with cutlasses does not automatically make the shooting lawful. I have always argued that Officers must always maintain proportionate use of force depending on the circumstances.
The right to life of every citizen is protected under Section 33 of the Constitution and the exceptions to that section are not a licence to shoot indiscriminately at people. The revised Force Order also places strict limits on lethal force. Police must protect bystanders and innocent civilians, even when confronting armed people.
It must also be stated that the era of Internal discipline ALONE in cases like this has to stop. Where the officer is found negligent, he must be made to face criminal prosecution. Internal discipline does not exculpate the said officer and the Nigerian Police has to ensure that the investigation is transparent. Dismissal cannot replace prosecution where the evidence supports that criminal charge is pursuable.
I also urge the family of the deceased child to seek a coroner’s inquest to ascertain the cause and circumstances of death. The family should also seek enforcement of the deceased child’s right to life and claim damages against the appropriate parties.

AJEGUNLE SHOOTING: OFFICER DETAINED AS STATE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION DEPARTMENT TAKES OVER INVESTIGATION
- CP assures bereaved family of justice
The Lagos State Police Command sadly confirms the incident in which ASP Omotayo Olajide, a personnel of the Command, discharged his firearm resulting in the death of a little girl, Omole Taiwo, and injured another girl in the Nosamu area of Ajegunle on Thursday, 5 November 2026, between 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
Preliminary findings show that the personnel had been deployed after a distress call about a violent clash between two rival groups, the Nosamu Boys and the Alayabiagba Boys, over toll collection. The groups were reportedly armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons. During the operation, ASP Olajide discharged his firearm, and the bullet struck the two girls. Both girls were rushed to Ajeromi General Hospital. One was later transferred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, where she gave up. The other child is receiving medical attention and is in stable condition.
The Command is deeply saddened by the loss of a young and innocent life and shares in the grief of the bereaved family. ASP Olajide has been disarmed and detained, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough and impartial investigation. The inquiry will establish exactly what happened and determine the appropriate legal and disciplinary action. The Command will keep the public informed of its progress.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, visited the bereaved family in person to express his heartfelt condolences. He assured them that the matter will be thoroughly investigated, justice will be done, and no personnel found culpable will be shielded. He reaffirmed that the Command takes the protection of every life seriously and will conduct the investigation with the highest standards of professionalism, transparency, and accountability.
Members of the public with information that may assist the investigation are urged to report to the nearest police station or to the Command's Public Relations Department. The Command once again extends its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased. May her soul rest in peace.

I served in Anambra State, Ekwusugo LGA to be precise. The functional banks in Anambra are located in four towns: Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi, and IHIALA. Other towns have no banks or only non-functional ones.
Once you leave Onitsha, you’d barely see functional banks until you get to IHIALA. The distance from Onitsha to IHIALA is like traveling from the mainland to Island
In Ekiti State, towns like Efon Alaye, Aramoko, Iyin, Oye, Ado, Ikere, etc., have functional banks.
Also, banks are strategic in where they establish branches. If a location is prone to illegal activities (robbery, k!dnapping, etc) , they won’t open a branch in that location.
Banks will consider opening a branch in Ekiti towns rather than in Anambra because Ekiti is 70% peaceful and easier for doing business.

Let me not even get started on our frequent trips to Ado for the most basic things.
